Job Title: Manager Value Chain and Business Development
The position is for a potential project aimed at increasing the economic opportunities of family farmers of Gilgit - Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan, with a special emphasis on women and youth, and is contingent upon project approval. This position reports to the Project Coordinator.
Job Summary:
The Manager Value Chain and Business Development will lead initiatives to optimize agricultural value chains and support business development activities. This role involves analyzing and improving value chains, developing business strategies, and fostering opportunities for growth and market access.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and map agricultural value chains to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance value chain performance, including improvements in processing, packaging, and distribution.
- Collaborate with cooperatives and stakeholders to address challenges and implement solutions that add value to agricultural products.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for business growth, including new markets, partnerships, and revenue streams.
- Develop and execute business plans and strategies to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of agricultural cooperatives.
- Support the creation and implementation of business models that align with project objectives and market needs.
- Facilitate market access for agricultural products through the development of marketing strategies, partnerships, and distribution channels.
- Explore and implement innovative approaches to reach new markets, including e-marketing and digital platforms.
- Organize and support trade fairs, exhibitions, and other promotional events to showcase products and attract buyers.
- Provide training and support to cooperative members and staff on value chain management, business development, and market strategies.
- Develop training materials and conduct workshops to enhance the skills and knowledge of stakeholders involved in value chain activities.
- Develop and manage budgets for value chain and business development activities, ensuring cost-effective operations and financial sustainability.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of value chain and business development initiatives, including impact assessments and financial performance.
- Prepare and present reports on progress, challenges, and outcomes to the the Project Coordinator.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including farmers, cooperatives, businesses, and government agencies.
- Collaborate with external experts and organizations to leverage additional resources and expertise for value chain development.
- Stay informed about trends and best practices in value chain management and business development to drive continuous improvement.
- Implement innovative solutions and strategies to enhance value chain efficiency and business growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Development Studies, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- At least 05 years of experience in value chain management and business development, preferably in the agricultural sector.
- Strong understanding of value chain dynamics, business development strategies, and market access issues.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective business plans and strategies.
