JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Project Coordinator – Inclusive Eye Health Project
Location: Karachi
Project Duration: April 2026 – March 2029
Reports To: Project Director / Head of Programmes
About the Position
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the Inclusive Eye Health Project “Clear Vision, Stronger Communities”. The position will ensure timely and quality implementation of project activities, achievement of project targets, compliance with donor requirements, effective stakeholder engagement, and efficient utilization of project resources.
The Project Coordinator will serve as the primary focal person for project management and coordination with CBM, government departments, health facilities, schools, community structures, and other relevant stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Management
- Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of all project activities in accordance with approved work plans, budgets, and project objectives.
- Develop detailed implementation plans and monitor progress against agreed timelines and targets.
- Ensure timely delivery of project outputs and outcomes.
- Coordinate establishment and operationalization of optometry clinics, paediatric eye care services, and low vision services.
- Facilitate project review meetings and ensure follow-up of action points.
- Ensure project implementation adheres to organizational policies, donor requirements, and quality standards.
- Technical Coordination and Service Delivery
- Coordinate implementation of community-based and facility-based Inclusive Eye Health interventions.
- Oversee school eye health screening activities using PEEK and other approved digital screening approaches.
- Support implementation of community awareness and behaviour change activities related to eye health.
- Coordinate cataract surgery referral pathways and follow-up mechanisms.
- Ensure effective identification, referral, and management of persons with visual impairment and low vision.
- Promote disability-inclusive and gender-responsive approaches across all project interventions.
- Ensure quality standards are maintained in all project-supported eye health services.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)
- Establish systems for monitoring project performance and indicator tracking.
- Monitor progress against project indicators, targets, and milestones.
- Ensure accurate collection, validation, analysis, and reporting of project data.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and donor reports.
- Support baseline studies, evaluations, audits, assessments, and learning reviews.
- Maintain project databases and documentation in accordance with donor requirements.
- Generate evidence, lessons learned, and success stories for programme improvement.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with CBM, government departments, educational institutions, health facilities, community leaders, and civil society organizations.
- Coordinate with Lady Health Workers, teachers, optometrists, consultants, and outreach teams for smooth project implementation.
- Represent the organization in relevant technical working groups, coordination forums, and stakeholder meetings.
- Facilitate advocacy and awareness initiatives related to inclusive eye health and disability inclusion.
- Financial and Administrative Management
- Monitor project expenditures and ensure efficient utilization of project resources.
- Support budget planning, forecasting, revisions, and financial monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with financial management procedures and donor regulations.
- Coordinate procurement and logistics related to project implementation
- Maintain complete project records and documentation for audits and donor reviews.
- Team Management and Capacity Building
- Provide supervision and technical guidance to project staff.
- Support recruitment, orientation, and performance management of project personnel.
- Identify staff capacity development needs and facilitate relevant training opportunities.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, safeguarding, and organizational values.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Health Sciences, International Development, or a related field.
- Candidates possessing a Master's degree in any other discipline may also be considered provided they have at least seven (7) years of relevant professional experience.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in managing donor-funded health, development, or humanitarian projects.
- Candidates with a Master's degree in a non-relevant discipline must possess at least seven (7) years of relevant programme management experience
- Demonstrated experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience working with NGOs, INGOs, government programmes, or development partners.
- Experience managing project budgets, donor compliance, and reporting requirements.
- Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams and coordinating field operations.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in Inclusive Eye Health programmes.
- Experience in public health, disability inclusion, community-based development, or health systems strengthening.
- Experience with digital health solutions, data management systems, or PEEK screening platforms.
- Familiarity with CBM, international donor requirements, and results-based management approaches.
