Project Title: Animated Videos as part of the Sexual Violence Response Framework (SVRF)

A.      Background

The Legal Aid Society (LAS) is a not-for-profit organization working on its mission to connect vulnerable & disempowered end u

sers of justice with effective and expedient services for the delivery of justice. LAS’ interventions have been aimed at increasing access to justice for poor & marginalized communities, particularly women, across the province of Sindh as well as at the Federal level.

LAS specifically focuses on working to improve access to justice for survivors and victims of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) by enhancing the capacity of critical criminal justice system actors to respond in such cases. Furthermore, creating awareness and mechanisms that encourage reporting such cases is equally important in our work.

In LAS’ experiences, information dissemination through animated videos has proven to be a non-threatening, accessible, and compelling way to initiate conversations regarding sensitive issues such as GBV in heavily patriarchal communities. On this front, LAS is seeking to partner with an animation studio or designers to create context-specific animations to raise awareness of the concepts around GBV, including consent, power dynamics, types of violence faced by women and children, and the support mechanisms available. These animations will be created keeping the patriarchal context in focus, which can pose a threat to the victims and survivors of GBV who come forward with their stories. Since there are only a few localized videos, these animations will be essential for online and in-person community engagement, capacity-building workshops, and gender sensitization.

LAS aims to create 3 short videos of 3 minutes each in order to achieve the target stated above.

The scope of work and corresponding outputs/deliverables will be as follows:

  1. Scripting, creating and editing of 3 animated videos (3 minutes each) explaining GBV, its types and redressal mechanisms (LAS will assist in creating the scripts and explaining the context)
  2. Each animation to have translations and subtitles in at least 4 regional languages (Sindhi, Pashto, Punjabi, Balochi)
  3. Ensure that the animated videos are in line with all regional/national protocols and requirements
