Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for a seasoned and dynamic ‘Manager, Community Health Services’ for Gilgit Baltistan Region, based at Regional Office Gilgit.

The Manager, Community Health Services will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Primary Health Care Program across the Gilgit Baltistan Region. This role involves leading a team to deliver high-quality health care services to the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the Primary Health Care Program in line with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Supervise and support a team of health care professionals, including doctors, nurses, and technicians, to ensure effective delivery of health care services.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of health care facilities in the region to ensure quality assurance and compliance with standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical units within the organization to integrate primary health care services with referral and hubs.
  • Develop inter-sectoral collaboration at the AKDN level and strengthen linkages with the Government Health Department and other NGOs functioning in the areas.
  • Conduct regular site visits to health care facilities to assess the quality of services and provide guidance and support to staff.
  • Maintain close supervision and provide support by addressing issues of the staff through periodic visits.
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity building of staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in delivering primary health care services.
  • Raise awareness through community discussions, educating and inspiring communities about the importance of primary healthcare principles.
  • Work with the honorary set up within the framework of governance structure.
  • Provide primary healthcare training, improving the efficiency of refresher courses, and enhancing follow-ups through the primary healthcare team.
  • Ensure implementation of AKHS, P policies and management decisions having due regard to governance structure.
  • Work to improve the Management Information System (MIS) to enable sound interpretation and decision-making for action.
  • Plan, implement and monitor activities in the region.
  • Look after human resources matters and submit periodic or immediate reports based on sound information to the Program office with appropriate recommendation for decision making.
  • Plan to bring the health status of communities in the non-consolidated areas at par with the consolidated areas and built upon for further improvement.

 

Qualification, Experience & Competencies

  • LHV/RM/RN/BScN/MScN/MPH/MBBS/master’s in health administration or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in managing health care programs, preferably in a primary health care setting.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of health care policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in analyzing healthcare indicators, identifying trends, and making data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in preparing detailed reports, documenting key findings, and presenting information effectively.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation.
  • Ability to think strategically, evaluate options, and make sound decisions for the improvement of healthcare services.
