ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) is a nonprofit public service organization with a mandate to promote the volume and effectiveness of philanthropy for development in Pakistan.

PROJECT PREVIEW

Policy briefs on CSO capacity and the barriers for gender equality in target communities

Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy in partnership with AKF, is implementing a sub-project on “Enhancing Capacity of Local Organizations for Gender Inclusive Programming in Gilgit Baltistan” as part of a comprehensive project on Advancing Gender Equality through Civil society (AGECS). The sub-project has two targeted localities of Hunza and Diamer (Tehsils Aliabad and Chilas respectively). Both Tehsils have distinct socio-economic characteristics. Aliabad tehsil of District Hunza has better social infrastructure and organizations to support activities for improving gender equality and women empowerment. Whereas, Tehsil Chilas of District Diamer has relatively more traditional and less formal civil society organizations and have not been studied in detail earlier.Based on the findings and analysis of the capacity assessment report, the capacity gaps of the CSOs have been identified and issues and challenges of gender equality and women empowerment are highlighted as well.

Based on the lesson learnt and best practices, a policy brief will be prepared to inform stakeholders about the challenges and barriers in attaining gender equality and what policy measures could be taken to meet the project objectives. 

The policy briefs will include the following:

  1. Policy review based on the data collected, the reports generated from the data collected.
  2. Policy briefs related to challenges and barriers in attaining gender equality.
  3. Policy measures to achieve project objectives.

JOB DESCRIPTION(TORs)

-          Complete a comprehensive desk review of relevant AKF/EU policies, regional mapping studies, and existing research.

-          Develop structure of policy briefs.

-          Present policy brief first draft.

-          Review and finalize policy brief draft including PCP’s suggestions.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

-          Prior knowledge of Civil Society Organisations, i.e. I/NGOs, Local Support Organizations, Community Organizations based in Gilgit-Baltistan.

-          Expertise in the fields of Education specifically:Gender Equality, Women Empowerment etc.

-          Extensive prior experience in drafting policy briefs.

-          Good academic writing skills in English.
