Brief background of the project

 WWF-Pakistan with the support of the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) of UK Government aims to Scale-up Nature-based Solutions for Improving Integrated Water Resources Management and Enhanced Water Security under Water Resource Accountability in Pakistan (WRAP) project. The project proposes to undertake demonstrations of Nature-based Solutions (NbS), including Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) interventions that will improve water security and governance, build the resilience of communities to climate change at the target sites in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and enable the Government and relevant stakeholders to implement and replicate NbS in Pakistan for building climate change resilience. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Document and review all available reports and data on water resource assessments in the project area
  • Identify the data gaps, collect additional data, and carry out hydrological analysis for assessing river/stream flows and seasonal variability.
  • Obtain, study, and synthesize background information, including the geology, Hydrogeology, and existing borehole data, to improve the quality of assessment and prepare comprehensive hydrogeological reports
  • Conduct a detailed survey of the project area (Water level measurements, condition of the boreholes, usage, and performance where applicable) inspection of the investigated area's geological, geomorphological, and structural characteristics; verification of existing data and finding
  • Overall responsible for the supervision and provision of technical support in water replenishment/recharge activities of the project
  • Actively take part in the screening, identification, and selection of potential sites for recharge and storage structures
  • Provides strategic support to the Team Lead, Provincial Team Lead, and Project officers as appropriate in other project activities
  • When necessary, undertake field visits to monitor project implementation and provide feedback on the project activities
  • Assist in making a technical presentation and documentation of interventions
  • Facilitate capacity building, awareness raising, and in other project activities

Qualification and Experience:

  • A minimum of a master’s degree in hydrogeology, hydrology, or geological sciences related to hydrogeological analysis for Water Management
  • At least five (5) years of working experience in the context of hydro-geological analysis in

Water Resources Management.

  • Experience in water resource management projects is an important asset;

  • Good at the application of MS Office

Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent English reading, writing, and communication skills

  • Physically fit for traveling/trekking in rugged mountain areas

  • Familiarity with social, cultural, and geographical contexts

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implementation of project intervention

  • Work experience with WWF-Pakistan would be a great asset Strong team-player with ability to work in virtual teams;
