Who we are looking for
The ideal candidate will have a post-graduate degree in Agriculture, preferably in Agronomy, Entomology, Plant Protection, and/or another field related to Crop Production. You will have extensive professional experience in Crop Health Management, integrated pest management (IPM), pesticide application, and a broad understanding of agricultural ecology, rural development and capacity building in the context of sustainable agriculture cooperation.
What this role is responsible for
The Project Region Coordinator will lead the implementation of the Better Cotton Standard system at producer units of smallholders and medium farms in Sindh, Pakistan. She/he will coordinate the field activities in order to implement the approved project activity plan. Also, facilitate the producer units regarding the sustainable agricultural approach to BCI farmers and workers. She/he will lead and support the Producer units in developing linkages with local organizations/government institutes to implement BCI Production Principles and Criteria. She/he will conduct capacity building and knowledge transfer for project staff and farmers to support implementing economically, Environmentally viable crop health management approaches at different levels (farm, advisory services, policy, research and education).
Key Accountabilities
- Prepare the detailed plan for implementing the Better Cotton Standard System (BCSS) as per the approved KPIs of the project.
- Ensure the achievement of KPIs settled for the project in terms of the number of farmers trained, qualified cotton acreage and tonnage of seed cotton production with the help of the field team.
- Capacity building of field staff, including Producer Unit Managers, Field Facilitators, Women Trainers and Women Village Trainers for implementing Better Cotton Standard System (BCSS) and Good Agricultural Practices.
- Ensure the most effective and efficient utilization of the activity-wise allocated budget available in the project to perform the approved activities.
- Ensure the on-time collection, credibility and quality of all types of data as with required parameters by organization/ donor, including lists of farmers, workers (male and female), Result Indicator data, utilization reports etc.
- Produce the success stories, blogs, research publications and activity details resulting from introduced interventions.
- Develop and implement a roadmap for the project's interventions/Producer Units sustainability.
- Carry out monitoring and evaluation activities while visiting the sites and conducting the review and feedback sessions at the office to ensure the implementation of Corrective Actions in their true spirit.
- Ensure the necessary documentation and training record maintenance at the project level.
- Develop training material for better Cotton farmers and field team in the local language.
- Prepare and submit all types of reports, including activity, monthly highlight, and quarterly, mid-term and end-year reports as required by the organization/ donor within the given timelines.
- Conduct the PU Support visits and readiness checks for Producer Units on behalf of Implementing Partner.
- Organize and conduct meetings, workshops, seminars, visits, and briefings as and when required.
- Any other assignments required for satisfactory completion of the key role requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of BCI Production principles and Criteria.
- Strong understanding of cotton production technology and its sustainability issues.
- Experience in project coordination / Management (team building, project design and implementation, and monitoring and evaluation), preferably in a development cooperation context.
- Must have at least three years of experience in supervisory roles, preferably in the agriculture sector.
- Proven networking, team-building, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to plan work schedules to meet agreed deadlines.
- Experience and ability to work under pressure and within limited timeframes
- Experience in TNA, Training Design, Training Material development and Training Evaluations.
- Willingness for field visits to interiors of lower Sindh for meetings with farmers.
- Strong technical report writing skills
- Fluency in English, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Agriculture, preferably in Entomology, Plant Protection, Agronomy or related to crop production.
- Experience in coordinating/managing a large number of field teams.
