The Assistant Director Disaster Response will play a pivotal role in developing and strengthening our organization's capacity to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to disasters and crises efficiently. The primary objective is to support communities in building safety and resilience while serving as the focal point for disaster relief operations across the country. |
||
Specific Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities |
||
|
Conduct risk assessments to identify potential disaster scenarios and develop mitigation plans. Stay updated on emerging threats and technologies that can enhance response capabilities. |
|
|
Collaborate closely with branch teams, donors, and field teams in operational sites to provide technical guidance and support during the implementation of emergency response operations. |
|
|
Work in close coordination with program staff at all branches and provincial secretaries to ensure the effective implementation of disaster response programs. |
|
|
Conduct thorough emergency needs assessments and develop detailed plans of action and budgets. Facilitate the creation of comprehensive implementation plans, monthly/quarterly budgets, and funding requests in collaboration with the project team, adhering to established procedures. |
|
|
Assume overall responsibility for the Emergency Preparedness and Response program in the country. |
|
|
Establish and maintain effective communication channels with internal teams, external partners, NDMA, and government agencies involved in disaster response. Ensure information flows smoothly to facilitate a coordinated response. |
|
|
Develop and maintain appropriate mechanisms, organizational structures, and systems for managing emergencies. This includes contingency plans based on disaster risk analysis, assessment guidelines, and reporting mechanisms. |
|
|
Ensure that lessons learned and best practices from disaster management programs are documented and used to enhance future planning, programming, and implementation. |
|
|
Establish effective monitoring and reporting procedures for programs and operations within the disaster management portfolio. |
|
|
Coordinate logistics for disaster response, including transportation, shelter, food distribution, and medical services. Ensure all operations are carried out efficiently and in compliance with safety standards. |
|
|
To develop and manage the budget for disaster response activities. Monitor expenditures and ensure cost-effective allocation of funds. Maintain accurate records of response activities, outcomes, and lessons learned. Prepare and submit financial reports reports to stakeholders. |

Undertake any other tasks or responsibilities assigned by the management. |
