USAID’s Pakistan Power Sector Improvement Activity (PSIA) is seeking a DevOps Engineer for its project office located in Lahore, Pakistan

The Pakistan Power Sector Improvement Activity (PSIA) is a four-year, $23.5M Activity aiming to increase the financial viability, reliability, and affordability of Pakistan’s power system. PSIA supports USAID’s focus on facilitating long-term solutions to energy issues through increased engagement with the private sector. This will be achieved by leveraging private investment and providing technical assistance to improve governance, implement necessary reforms, and promote fair and open competition in the market.

Working together with Pakistan-based subcontractors, PSIA will support Pakistani government efforts to transition to a competitive power market; improve energy transmission and distribution system operations; optimize the use of grid electricity and increase the share of renewable energy production and energy efficiency utilization in the country’s energy mix. Key considerations for the PSIA Activity include more fully engaging the private sector, coordinating with Pakistani and regionally based stakeholders, ensuring environmental compliance and climate risk management, and promoting gender equality.

Qualification and Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in DevOps
  • Experience with Docker & Kubernetes cluster management
  • Experience in DB query, backup, and recovery
  • Experience with Kafka cluster or other messaging systems
  • Shell, Python, or other programming language experience is a must
  • Experience provisioning, operating, and maintaining systems running in the cloud
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of CI/CD processes and tools (Jenkins)
  • Sysadmin – Experience working on Linux-based infrastructure and good knowledge of Linux, Windows, and CentOS
  • Version Control Systems – Solid knowledge and experience using Git; Bitbucket is a must
  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration
  • Solid understanding of fundamental technologies like DNS, Load Balancing, SSL, networking, and security best practices.
  • Knowledge of Cloud especially AWS environment should be well versed with all AWS DevOps-related services including AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodeDeploy, AWS CodePipiline, AWS CodeCommit, EC2, EKS, OpsWork, Auto Scaling, Elastic Load Balancing, CloudWatch, CloudTrail will be a plus
  • Experience working in an Agile, fast-paced, DevOps environment.
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
