CAB International (Regional Bioscience Centre Pakistan) is seeking Field Facilitators to implement the donor funded project on Better Cotton in Sindh.

The selected candidates for Field Facilitator (FF) will be expected to implement the Better Cotton Standard System (BCSS) and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).

ToRs of Field Facilitator 

  1. Conduction of baseline surveys for farmer and farm worker information, ginners, middlemen and other stakeholders.

  2. Develop smallholder (SH) learning groups (LGs) / medium farmers (MF) on need basis in the end/start of cotton season.

  3. Social mobilization within farming community to adopt Better Cotton Standard System (BCSS).

  4. Engagement in the consultation process to maximise farmers/ farm workers participation in designing the activity plan of the PU. 

  5. Development and adherence to the monthly work plan and training plan.

  6. Delivery of training sessions as per monthly plan to BCI registered farmers and their workers on BCI standards and Good Agriculture Practices (GAPs) via Farmer Field School (FFS) approach for maximum farmer outreach. 

  7. Maintenance of up-to-date records of farmers trainings and field activities at BCI Farm and Producer Unit level. 

  8. Facilitation of the farmers for field practice record keeping.

  9. Establishing and maintaining the GAP demo plots and necessary information of visitors.

  10. Facilitates verifiers for conducting credibility checks and assessments of registered cotton growers.

  11. Facilitate the farmers/growers to register and develop as producer organisations. 

  12. Facilitation and coordination with other PU team members including women trainers for gender inclusion and climate change mitigation among registered better cotton farmers.

  13. Prepare the progress reports and submit them to the line manager/project. 

  14. Organising the field visits, meetings, and field days.

  15. Collection, verification and submission of all types of data, including Result Indicator, farmers information etc., to Producer Unit Manager within the given time period. 

  16. Completion and timely submission of any other task given by line manager for satisfactory completion of the key role requirements.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, preferably in Entomology, Plant Protection, Agronomy or related to Crop Production
Experience
  • Knowledge of BCI Production principles and Criteria.
  • Strong understanding of cotton production technology and its sustainability issues.

Personal Characteristics

  • Strong organisational and learning skills;
  • A team player with good interpersonal, communication and networking skills;
  • Comfortable working on one’s own initiative as well as following advice;
  • Flexible and creative in planning and problem solving;
  • Willing to travel to remote and challenging locations in Pakistan.
  • Applicant for this role needs to be honest, dedicated, social, motivated, disciplined, and self-organized to deliver quality work at prescribed deadlines.
  • Ability to plan work schedules to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Effective team player and conversant with a transdisciplinary approach.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, Self-motivated, an enthusiastic team player.

ROLE DETAILS

Reporting to: Producer Unit Manager

No. of positions: 7

Contract: 11 months with 3 months probation period. The placement will be made through third-party contracting firm (United Human Resource Services Pvt. Ltd) 

Benefits: Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Communication Allowance, Fuel Allowance, EOBI, paid leaves. 

Benefits cost will be deducted from gross salary.
