 Job Summary:

The Citizen Engagement Program/HumAhang (In Harmony) Communication Officer will be primarily responsible for both internal and external communication with the program. This will include, but is not limited to report writing, management of internal communication strategy and protocols, communication with the donor, and development and management of relevant external communication tools, strategies, and campaigns, as well as oversight of communications material developed by CEP/HumAhang project partners, sub-awardees, and sub-grantees.

The Communication Officer will provide technical support to the program to support the delivery of defined program outcomes and results. The Communication Officer will support the development of a Communication Strategy that will outline internal communication protocols and practices (e.g. a program style-guide), as well as  protocols for external program communication, as per USAID-guidelines. External program communication focuses on social media campaigns, showcasing events, and IEC material and collateral for program activities. The Communication Officer will ensure that all communication material developed under CEP/HumAhang follows both USAID branding and marking guidelines, as well as the CEP/HumAhang Branding Plan. The Communication Officer will develop and advise, additionally, on all promotional and advocacy activities within the CEP/HumAhang team, key partners, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities: 

  1. Lead the development of program reporting as required internally and externally (e.g. by the donor or any additional key program stakeholders). This will include, but is not limited to, quarterly program reports, showcasing event reports, key stakeholder meeting reports
  2. Lead and work with the program team in design and supporting of all communications collateral in print, electronic, and social media (this content will include but is not limited to press releases, success stories, case studies, blogs)
  3. Ensure that all collateral material and reporting material within the program complies with USAID branding and marking guidelines, as well as the program’s Branding Plan
  4. Ensure that all collateral material and reporting material is sensitive to program-relevant local contexts.
  5. Support in the development of a robust and integrated communication strategy in collaboration with the Gender, Social Inclusion, and Communication Advisor. This strategy will be relevant for both internal program teams, as well as sub-awardees and sub-grantees.
  6. Monitor and review communication collateral and reporting from sub-awardees and sub-grantees for compliance with USAID branding and marking guidelines, as well as the CEP/HumAhang branding plan 
  7. Proactively identify and develop communications collateral to meet the emerging needs from the field, based on principles of behavior change communications
  8. Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies from a communications point of view prior to any activity being organized 
  9. Conceive and develop ideas for events, social media campaigns, youth engagement, and dialogues to enhance program/organizational visibility and impact 
  10. Maintain a record and archiving of all communication-related activities under the program.
  11. Provide support in developing a process for evaluating impact and lessons learned from communications activity to inform future planning and to benchmark the performance and show progress made on agreed objectives
  12. Provide regular communications advice to program team, MEL team as well as sub grantees to ensure the communications strategy is being implemented smoothly and coherently across the program

 Required Qualification/Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Literature, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum 04 years of experience with a non-profit organization/development sector in a similar capacity
  • Knowledge of human rights-based and participatory communication approaches.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent data management and reporting skills
  • Strong creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using various communication tools and platforms.
  • Proficiency in MS Office specially in MS word and MS PowerPoint
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Previous experience of working on USAID-funded programs will be preferred.
