The Technical Assistance Facility for Iraq (TAFFI) is a 9-million GBP CSSF-funded project running from June 2021 until April 2024. The project works closely with the British Embassy in Baghdad (BEB) to provide draw-down support to the Prime Minister’s Office, and other Ministries, concerning government reform plans.  

TAFFI is focused on supporting Federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government in tackling corruption, improving digital governance and strengthening Iraq’s economy by increasing non-oil revenues, encouraging private sector development and reforming the banking sector. The project is the latest in ASI’s long history of support to the centre of government in Iraq – we started working with the PMO in 2003 and worked there continuously until 2016. Project delivery has been significantly informed by political economy analysis, building on our experience with similar approaches across MENA and in other adaptively managed programmes.  

TAFFI operates in a period of transition, with multiple centres of power and a broadly insecure environment. To ensure the provision of responsive and strategic technical assistance that achieves maximum impact, TAFFI maintains a wide stakeholder base, designs highly specific technical inputs and proactively adapts to changes in context.
