Main Responsibilities:

  • Have press releases received from the ICRC published in print, electronic and/or online media. Press releases will be provided by ICRC.
  • Published op-eds received from the ICRC in leading English and Urdu print/digital media. The op-eds will be provided by the ICRC.
  • Where needed, assist the ICRC in connecting with journalists in Pakistan.
  • Provide media coverage at ICRC’s events, where and as needed.
  • When needed, reach out to and record messages from influencers based on the provided topic and promotional content by the ICRC. The consultant will use their own equipment for the recording and editing.
  • Remain available for urgent English-Urdu-English translations. Length of the translation will not be more than 2-3 pages.
  • Assist the ICRC communications team in terms of identification and selection of the participants for our Humanitarian Reporting Workshops in Islamabad and Peshawar.
  • Ensure that content, visuals, soundbites, and images are not published without the final approval of ICRC communications team, in writing. 

 

Main Requirements :

  • University degree in journalism, communication or related field.
  • Islamabad-based journalist with 10 or more years of experience in copywriting, editing of press releases, provision of media coverage, media networking, as well as teaching/research experience in subjects linked to media'
  • Experience with reporting on social and humanitarian issues
  • Knowledge of humanitarian reporting, ICRC’s mandate and its core principles
  • Fluency in English and Urdu is required
  • Proficiency in computer skills (e.g., MS Office)
