Relevant Experience:

 The Training resource person should have a minimum qualification of BSc in Agriculture (Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field) and at least 5 years of experience in farmer training, sustainable agriculture, and climate-smart agricultural practices. The expert should have proven experience working with rural communities and smallholder farmers, along with strong facilitation, communication, and participatory training skills.

Job Description:

The purpose of this consultancy is to design and deliver a comprehensive farmer training program aimed at enhancing knowledge, skills and adoption of nutrition-sensitive, climate-smart, and sustainable agricultural practices. The consultancy will strengthen farmers’ capacity in diversified and resilient crop production through practical training on improved seed selection, soil and water management, integrated pest and soil fertility management, climate-smart agriculture techniques, vertical farming, aquaponics, hydroponics, and post-harvest handling, with a strong focus on improving household food security, nutrition outcomes, agricultural productivity, climate resilience, and income generation. The assignment will employ participatory, hands-on learning approaches and practical exercises, supported by pre- and post-training assessments, feedback mechanisms, and tailored guidance to ensure effective application and long-term adoption of improved agricultural practices at the community level.

  • The consultant will design, develop and deliver a comprehensive training program for farmers to enhance their knowledge, skills and adoption of nutrition-sensitive, climate-smart and sustainable agricultural practices. The training will aim to improve household food security, nutrition outcomes, agricultural productivity, resilience to climate change and income generation through diversified crop production.
  • The consultant will develop the training methodology, agenda, facilitation plan, and detailed work schedule for the farmer training sessions. The consultant will prepare all training materials, including manuals, presentations, handouts, visual aids, practical exercises, demonstration guides, and field-learning tools. All materials shall be participatory, gender-sensitive, culturally appropriate, and accessible to persons with disabilities while incorporating safeguarding, accountability and ethical principles.
  • The consultant will conduct practical and participatory training sessions for farmers using adult-learning approaches, field demonstrations, group discussions, case studies, hands-on exercises, and problem-solving techniques. The training shall focus on strengthening farmers' knowledge and practical skills in the production of nutrient-rich vegetables and staple crops through modern, sustainable, and climate-resilient agricultural practices including
