Training Resource Persons

Purpose: Our Organization seeks to onboard a set of Training Resource Persons for a 6-day training on Leadership, Critical Thinking, and Digital Advocacy. The trainers will jointly contribute to module development, delivery of sessions, and provide feedback to network groups in planning Youth-Led Community Impact Initiatives.

Total years of experience required: 8 years

Location: Islamabad

Background:

For over the last decade, our organization has been engaged with youth from different universities across the country to build their capacity on youth leadership, life skills, critical thinking, rights based legal framework, governance, structural discrimination against marginalized communities. After being trained the youth have been actively involved in advocacy efforts both at campus level and outside of campus inside marginalized communities to act as catalyst of social change promoting equality, inclusion, participation, and social cohesions ultimately having positive impact on the life of marginalized minority communities. It is generally held view that Universities in Pakistan usually don’t promote critical thinking and scientific reasoning in education programme to foster culture of learning diversity, acceptance, tolerance, and innovation. We believe that youth of universities can bring change if they are provided with systematic learning opportunities on various themes. Under the youth program of our organization youth are being involved through capacity building workshops, advocacy initiatives, and practicums around aforementioned themes to ensure social and legal empowerment of minorities.

In continuity of these initiatives, we intend to form youth networks under youth program. The youth networks formed would undergo a comprehensive capacity building training on digital advocacy, youth leadership, critical thinking, and rights framework around marginalized minority communities. The aim of these workshops is to equip students with a professional understanding of social inequalities, prejudice, discrimination, social exclusion faced by religious minorities, in addition to an understanding that there is need to deal with these social problems in order to promote a just, equitable, cohesive, progressive, and prosperous society. Our organization seeks to hire the services of multiple Training Resource Persons who will jointly work with each other and the project team to achieve the objectives of the 6-day training.

Objectives: The training resource persons are expected to:

  1. Jointly conduct capacity building workshop of selected youth on Leadership Skills, Critical Thinking, and Digital Advocacy to foster evidence-based learning and practical analytical approaches to become self-directed, self-monitored, and self-corrective.
  2. Enable youth to design and implement Youth-Led Community Impact Initiatives around social, legal, and political challenges of marginalized communities.
  3. Enable youth to reflect on their own thinking and behavior and incorporate their learning in leading youth in community service program directing towards social, political, and economic issues of religious minority communities.

Scope of Work

To achieve the above objectives, the Training Resource Persons will work closely with one another and the project team to jointly develop a consolidated training manual, plan and deliver the 6-day training (with each trainer delivering sessions in their respective area of expertise), and mentor youth networks as per the scope of work outlined below:

  • Each trainer will prepare a detailed thematic module for their assigned area (Leadership, Critical Thinking, or Digital Advocacy) including learning objectives, session plans, activities, timings, list of materials required, and assessment tools. Project team will compile these modules into a single, cohesive training manual. The consolidated manual should cover the following sub-topics:

       i.          Define critical thinking; identify skills such as creativity, skepticism, and humility; and recognize barriers including ego, assumptions, and confirmation bias.

ii.          Define and understand concepts of discrimination, marginality, social injustice, and social exclusion based on sex, religion, class, and creed; and comprehend the principles of equality, equity, pluralism, and empathy.

iii.          Define marginality and social exclusion, social inclusion, social stratification, intersectionality, and their key elements.

iv.          Understand and apply techniques of critical thinking and logic to map the root causes and impacts of issues at personal, institutional, and societal levels.

      v.          Comprehend the concepts of life skills, observation, and scientific inquiry; and explore tools and techniques for problem-solving.

vi.          Define digital advocacy and its role in promoting social change; identify tools and platforms such as social media, digital storytelling, and visual communication; develop strategies for online campaigning, countering misinformation, and creating digital narratives for marginalized communities; and recognize ethical considerations and ensure digital safety and security in advocacy efforts.
