Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Psychologist/Mental Health Support Officer will be responsible for providing psychosocial support, counseling, and mental health services to individuals and communities served by the organization. This role involves conducting assessments, delivering interventions, and building capacity to address mental health needs and promote well-being.

Job Specification

• Lead and supervise a team of four Community Wellbeing Mentors in delivering sessions, lay counseling, screenings, and referrals during outreach activities; monitor and guide their performance.
• Coordinate closely with Consultant Organization for improvement of psychological interventions and program outcomes.
• Undergo weekly supervision with a senior clinical psychologist to maintain quality of care and prevent burnout.
• Provide therapy to Afghan refugees and Pakistani patients at the Urban Cohesion Hub (a community center), addressing a wide range of psychological challenges including anxiety, depression, addictions, social difficulties, interpersonal issues, and complex emotional concerns.
• Diagnose and evaluate mental and emotional disorders, and develop personalized interventions, treatment, and management plans using methods such as psychotherapy, behavior modification, and stress reduction techniques.
• Refer patients to specialists or other institutions/organizations for non-counseling treatment, such as psychiatric support or advanced care.
• Assess patients’ needs, behaviors, and abilities through interviews, direct observation, psychometric tests, and other tools.
• Maintain regular documentation of patient progress through ongoing sessions, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
• Ensure confidentiality of all patient information and sensitive case details at all times.
• Conduct community awareness and outreach sessions to raise mental health awareness in target areas.
• Compile and submit timely daily and monthly reports, maintaining proper documentation of field and counseling activities (both online and offline), and ensure all session data is accurately entered into the designated online application.
• Identify and document success stories, best practices, and lessons learned to support learning and program improvement.
• Perform any other project-related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Job Specification

• Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology.
• Valid professional license or certification in mental health counseling or psychology.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in providing counseling or mental health support services, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
• Proven expertise in mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programming within humanitarian contexts.
• Strong skills in report writing, documentation, and data management.
• Proficiency in using electronic databases and generating reports.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, demonstrate empathy, and earn the trust of clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with local stakeholders and partner organizations.
• Fluency in local languages spoken in the community is highly desirable.
