Job Description
Title: Education Assistant
Reporting to: Education Officer
Duty Station: Mianwali RV Camps Office

Summary of Key Functions
The Education Assistant will support the implementation and coordination of educational programmes for refugee communities within the Mianwali RV Camps. The role involves assisting in the development, execution, and evaluation of educational activities and ensuring the smooth functioning of education-related tasks within the programme. The Education Assistant will also be responsible for data collection, record-keeping, and supporting teachers and other education staff in their duties.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support in Programme Implementation
- Assist the Education Officer in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programmes for refugee communities in Mianwali RV Camps.
- Support in the development of educational materials and resources for teachers and students.
- Help in organising and conducting awareness sessions, workshops, and training programmes for teachers, community volunteers, and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate co-curricular activities in project schools, including sports, arts, and cultural activities.
- Educational Support and Facilitation
- Assist teachers in the classroom with lesson planning and delivery, particularly for the Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP).
- Provide classroom management support to teachers and assist in ensuring an effective learning environment.
- Help in monitoring the progress of students and facilitate monthly data collection on their academic performance.
- Provide logistical and administrative support during school visits and educational activities.
- Community Engagement and Mobilisation
- Support the facilitation of community meetings and engagement activities to promote education in refugee communities within the Mianwali RV Camps.
- Assist in organising Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTM) in target schools, ensuring active participation from community members.
- Mobilise and encourage community involvement in educational initiatives, advocating for the importance of education in the refugee context.
- Assist in conducting surveys to identify out-of-school children (OSC) and collect data related to educational needs in the target area.
- Monitoring, Data Collection, and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of programme activities, including attendance, school progress, and materials distributed.
- Assist in collecting data on students' academic progress and the overall effectiveness of educational programmes.
- Support the preparation of reports on programme outcomes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Assist the Education Officer in preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, including updating the status of programme activities.
- Administrative Support
- Provide administrative assistance in managing educational resources, including maintaining inventories of supplies and teaching materials.
- Assist in coordinating logistics for educational events and school visits.
- Support the Education Officer in the development of work plans and identifying priorities for the educational programme.
- Other Responsibilities
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor to support the effective delivery of educational programmes.
- Maintain a professional and supportive attitude while interacting with students, teachers, and the wider community.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, or relevant discipline.
- At least 1 year of experience in an educational setting or community-based education programmes.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Good communication skills in both written and spoken English and the local language.
- Ability to work effectively with teachers, students, and the community, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Basic knowledge of teaching methodologies and experience supporting classroom activities is desirable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good data management skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- A proactive attitude with a strong interest in working with refugee communities and promoting education.
