U.S. Mission Pakistan is seeking applications from qualified individuals for Safety Program Coordinator (Maintenance Supervisor/ POSHO Assistant) position in U.S. Consulate General, Lahore.

 Basic Function of the Position Maintenance Supervisor/POSHO Assistant is responsible for maintenance and upkeep of all building grounds, and janitorial of the Consulate and provides maintenance support to off compound commercially leased and owned residences and government own office buildings, and workshops. Maintenance Supervisor/POSHO Assistant directly supervises 19 Locally Employed staff members. Maintenance Supervisor/POSHO Assistant also serves as the Post Occupational Safety and Health Officer (POSHO) assistant (Mid-level) with responsibility for assisting the POSHO in carrying out the day-to-day functions of the Office of Safety Health and Environmental Management (SHEM) and Office of Fire Protection (FIRE) programs at post. The position works under the supervision of Facility Manager. Assists in conducting safety surveys, preparing reports, and conducting follow up inspections to ensure compliance. Identifies hazards and evaluates safety risks, using SHEM and FIRE standards and references, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines. Determines methods for correcting identified safety and fire hazards and assists the POSHO and/or POSHO Assistant with implementing solutions. Develops and provides safety training in conjunction with SHEM and FIRE requirements for supervisors and employees in accordance with applicable requirements and ensures that employees are familiar with safety rules and procedures for performing their jobs in a safe manner. Prepares reports of findings and recommendations and oversees completion of hazard abatement and performs administrative duties.

Qualification Requirements:

Experience: Minimum three (03) years of experience in the maintenance or construction field performing repair work as a maintenance supervisor or team lead or in the field of occupational safety as a safety inspector or quality control assurance inspector. And minimum one (1) year of experience in management and supervision is also required.

Education: Completion of a University Degree (16 years of education) in Electrical, or Environmental safety, or Architectural, or Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or Construction or Facility Management from an accredited institution is required. The degree curriculum must be in a school of professional Architectural or engineering with curriculum accredited by nationally or internationally recognized accreditation board or equivalent host-country Architectural and engineering board is required.

Job Knowledge: The incumbent must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and database management, spreadsheets, etc. Must be able to have a good understanding of local occupational safety and health regulations. In depth knowledge of occupational safety and health standards, safety regulations, industry best practices, methods of assessing safety hazards and controls are required. Must have Knowledge of local building codes and investigative techniques for conducting investigations for all types of mishaps.

Language: Level IV (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing) in English, Urdu & Punjabi is required. English language skills may be tested.

Skills And Abilities: Should have good written and oral skills to conduct trainings and daily communication.  Basic mathematical skills to analyze safety related data is required. The incumbent must be skilled at drafting detailed and concise written reports in English for the Facility Manager.  A Pakistani valid driver's license for Motor Car/Jeep is required. Applicants must show proof that they have a minimum of five years of licensed driving experience. Skills and abilities may be tested.
