Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Advanced Embroidery Trainer to lead a comprehensive training program on advanced embroidery techniques for Afghan refugees in Ghotki and Khairpur Districts, Sindh. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a wide range of advanced embroidery techniques, including Sindhi-specific stitches like Kadhai, Khatri, Mookko, and other traditional methods. Emphasis will be placed on incorporating good color schemes that reflect Sindhi traditions. This role involves not only delivering hands-on training but also guiding trainees in product development and market engagement to enhance their skills and economic opportunities.

Scope of Work

The Advanced Embroidery Trainer will be responsible for:

  • Curriculum Development: Design and adapt a detailed curriculum that includes both advanced embroidery techniques and Sindhi-specific stitches. Ensure the curriculum incorporates good colour schemes and reflects local aesthetics.
  • Training Delivery: Conduct effective and engaging training sessions on advanced embroidery techniques, including but not limited to Argyle-style herringbone lines, Swedish Huck Embroidery, Whitework Embroidery, Stumpwork, Pulled thread, Kasuti, Zardozi, Kutch, Phulkari, Chicken Kari, and various cross-stitch and sheave combinations.
  • Skills Assessment: Evaluate trainees' skill levels and adapt training methods as needed to address their specific needs.
  • Product Development: Support trainees in creating high-quality, market-ready embroidery products. Provide guidance on product refinement and design.
  • Market Linkages: Assist trainees in establishing connections with potential buyers and provide advice on marketing and networking opportunities.

Expected Outputs/Deliverables

  • Monthly and Weekly Work Plans: Develop and submit detailed monthly and weekly work plans based on the curriculum.
  • Training Sessions: Conduct training sessions and adjust the curriculum to meet trainees' needs.
  • Skills Assessment Reports: Perform and document assessments of trainee skills.
  • Product Development Support: Guide trainees in developing and refining their embroidery products.
  • Progress Reports: Provide regular updates on training progress, challenges, and successes.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all training materials and finished products meet required standards.

Deliverables (90 days):

  • Inception Work Plan: Outline initial plans and objectives.
  • Develop Work Plans: Create detailed monthly and weekly work plans.
  • Conduct Training: Implement training sessions and evaluate market demand.
  • Facilitate Product Development: Support product development and establish market linkages.
  • Provide Progress Reports: Submit regular progress reports and conduct quality assurance.
  • Final Report: Deliver a comprehensive final report on training outcomes and project impact.

Methodology

The trainer will:

  • Utilize Provided Curriculum: Modify and adapt the given curriculum to create effective work plans.
  • Coordinate with : Collaborate with the team to align training activities with project goals.
  • Implement Training: Deliver training based on the modified curriculum and provide on-site support.
  • Monitor Progress: Regularly update the project team on training progress and challenges.
  • Market Research: Conduct market research to support product development and trainee market engagement.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in advanced embroidery techniques, including Sindhi-specific stitches.
  • Training Skills: Proven ability to adapt and develop training programs based on provided curricula.
  • Market Understanding: Strong knowledge of market trends and product development in embroidery.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to Travel: Ability to travel to project areas and engage with local communities.

Reporting Requirements

The trainer will report directly to the Project Manager, providing regular updates on training activities, progress, and any challenges encountered. Monthly progress reports and updates on the implementation of work plans are required.
