Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Baking and Pastry Technical Expert to lead a comprehensive training program focused on baking and pastry arts in Ghotki and Khairpur Districts as part of our Green Skills Development Project. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both the practical and theoretical aspects of baking and pastry, and will be adept at adapting and enhancing the provided curriculum to meet local needs and market demands. This role involves delivering hands-on training, ensuring the trainees acquire industry-standard skills, and facilitating connections with local businesses to promote sustainable employment opportunities.

 

Scope of Work

The Baking and Pastry Technical Expert will be responsible for:

  • Curriculum Modification: Utilize the provided curriculum to design detailed monthly and weekly work plans tailored to the specific needs of trainees and market demands.
  • Training Program Development: Implement the modified curriculum to deliver effective training sessions on baking and pastry arts, ensuring that the content is relevant, engaging, and aligned with industry standards.
  • Skills Assessment: Evaluate the skill levels of trainees and adapt the training approach as needed to address their specific needs.
  • Practical Demonstrations: Provide hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises to enhance the trainees' learning experience.
  • Kitchen and Facility Management: Ensure that the training kitchen is well-maintained, clean, and equipped with the necessary tools and ingredients.
  • Market Linkages: Assist in establishing connections between trainees and potential employers, including bakeries and pastry shops, providing guidance on job placement and networking opportunities.
  • Progress Reporting: Regularly share progress reports with the project team, including updates on training outcomes, challenges, and achievements.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all training activities adhere to high standards and verify the quality of tools, materials, and products used.

Expected Outputs/Deliverables

  • Monthly and Weekly Work Plans: Develop and submit detailed monthly and weekly work plans based on the provided curriculum.
  • Training Sessions: Conduct training sessions and modify the curriculum as needed to meet the trainees' needs.
  • Skills Assessment Reports: Perform assessments of trainee skills and progress.
  • Product Development Support: Guide trainees in developing and refining baked goods and pastry products that meet market standards.
  • Progress Reports: Provide regular updates on training progress, challenges, and successes to the project team.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all training materials, kitchen facilities, and products meet the required standards.

Deliverables (90 days):

  • Inception work plan
  • Develop monthly and weekly work plans
  • Conduct training sessions and evaluate market demand
  • Facilitate product development and market linkages
  • Provide progress reports and quality assurance
  • Final Report

Methodology

The expert will:

  • Work with the Provided Curriculum: Modify and adapt the given curriculum to create effective monthly and weekly work plans.
  • Coordinate with Organization: Collaborate closely with the Organization team to align training activities with project goals.
  • Implement Training Programs: Deliver training based on the modified curriculum and provide on-site support as needed.
  • Monitor Progress: Regularly update the project team on training progress, challenges, and successes.
  • Market Research: Gather and analyze market information to support product development and trainee market engagement.

Key Qualifications

  • A degree or certification in Baking & Pastry Arts or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a professional baker or pastry chef.
  • Proven experience in training or teaching is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of market trends and product development in the baking and pastry industry.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in a wide range of baking and pastry techniques.
  • Willingness to travel to project areas and engage with local communities.

Reporting Requirements

The expert will report directly to the Project Manager, providing regular updates on training activities, progress, and any challenges encountered. Monthly progress reports and updates on the implementation of work plans are required.
