The Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) is seeking an experienced Sweeper, reporting to the Admin Officer.

Summary of the Role

The Sweeper is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene within the healthcare facility. The role includes cleaning wards, OPD areas, labour rooms, washrooms, and surrounding premises to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The Sweeper plays a key role in infection prevention and proper waste management within the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in wards, OPD, emergency, labour room, offices, corridors, and hospital premises.
• Sweep, mop, and clean floors and assigned areas regularly.
• Clean patient rooms, furniture, windows, and common areas.
• Ensure regular cleaning and sanitation of washrooms.
• Clean and disinfect labour room and procedure areas as instructed.
• Dispose of hospital waste according to waste management protocols.
• Segregate waste and maintain cleanliness of waste bins.
• Follow infection prevention and control (IPC) guidelines during cleaning activities.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) while handling waste and cleaning chemicals.
• Maintain cleanliness of hospital surroundings and outdoor areas.
• Use cleaning equipment properly and store materials safely after use.
• Report shortage of cleaning supplies or damaged equipment to supervisor.
• Follow assigned duty schedules and maintain punctuality.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness during emergencies or inspections.
• Performs any other tasks as assigned by the Line Manager.

• Middle education
• 2-3 years’ experience
• Punctual, disciplined, and trustworthy.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Results-driven, ethical and adaptable professional with a strong service and stakeholder focus.
• Strong integrity with the sensitivity to manage confidential information.
• Demonstrates superior organizational skills and the agility to multitask and assume changing strategic responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
• Possesses strong integrity, intellectual humility and demonstrable expertise in navigating ambiguity and constant change.
• Shows resilience, flexibility and perseverance, especially during challenging periods.
• Culturally sensitive, inclusive and respectful of diverse populations, reflecting the global values of the AKDN.
