.S. Mission Pakistan is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the “Information Management Assistant” position in U.S. Embassy Islamabad.

Basic Function of the Position – The incumbent is responsible for installation, management, and operation of authorized computer systems and other automated programs, and responsible for the HelpDesk and user support serviced by the Embassy Islamabad's Information Systems Center (ISC). This includes State Department's Wide Area Network (WAN), OpenNetPlus, DIN (Dedicated Internet Network), Enterprise/non-enterprise WiFi networks and all other Automated Data Processing (ADP) equipment providing support, under the Interagency Cooperative Administrative Support Services (ICASS) program. Additionally, incumbent is responsible for providing advice and any other support necessary to assist the users in operating and improving the personal computer systems used by their office and provide technical support to all other posts in Pakistan when required. Occasional assistance is given to other agencies as necessary.

The incumbent is responsible for planning and taking appropriate action to ensure efficient management of the computer systems and ADP programs used to support the Mission. The incumbent is also responsible for providing maintenance and support of computer systems, valued at over $ 11.3 million, serving more than 1000 users and 2500+ network nodes that includes (Servers, Computers, Laptops, Printers, Digital Senders, IPTV, SetTopBoxes, HaiVision Encoders, Network Switches, Routers, Firewalls, and peripherals like Document/barcode Scanners, monitors etc.)

The incumbent also provides suggestions and advice on ways to improve efficiency, being alert to new, state-of-the-art software and equipment that can enhance operational efficiency. Provides direct assistance to the Information Systems Officer (ISO), Deputy Information Systems Officer (D/ISO), Computer Management Specialist and Assistant Computer Management Specialist as a member of the ISC management team.

Qualification Requirements:

Education: Completion of University Degree (16 years of education) in Computer Science, Information Management, Information Technology, Networking, Software/Computer Engineering is required. Successful certification in at least one of the following: CompTIA Network+, Security+, A+, MCP, MCITP, MCSA, MCSE, MCDBA, CCNA, CCNP is also required.

 Experience:  Minimum five (5) years of work experience in a related computer field with emphasis on networks, customer services, electronic data processing, application development and web-based technologies is required.

 Job Knowledge: The incumbent should have expert knowledge of the principles, techniques, methodologies involving computer systems analysis, computer systems operations and their applications, management, and related aspects of telecommunications: hardware and software technology; and their application to operations. Should possess comprehensive knowledge of programs, projects and organizations supported to ensure adequacy of support, and to resolve operational problems of such supported organizations. Should also possess knowledge of the principles of personnel and resource management to be able to administer those resources entrusted for management.

 

Skills And Abilities: The incumbent should possess excellent supervisory and management skills and the ability to deal with people effectively and diplomatically, teamwork, leadership skills. Should be Proficient in Microsoft Office application suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Skills and abilities may be tested.
