Program Overview

Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA) a non-profit organization committed to enhancing democratic accountabilities in Pakistan, presents an internship initiative that is designed to offer aspiring individuals’ practical exposure in electoral and parliamentary research, media monitoring, and search-engine optimization- (SEO) friendly report writing. As a reputed organization in promoting democratic norms and values, TDEA envisions equipping aspiring individuals with the skills essential for fostering transparency and accountability in the democratic process.

This internship program goes beyond conventional learning and aims to provide interns with a profound understanding of key areas crucial to democratic governance. Through hands-on experiences and mentorship, participants will not only gain valuable insights into the intricacies of electoral and parliamentary processes but also contribute meaningfully to TDEA’s ongoing initiatives. Interns will be an integral part of TDEA’s team, actively involved in monitoring dis- and mis-information, political and electoral violence incidents on mainstream media and social platforms. They will be part of the teams conducting parliamentary research as well as developing a range of communication productions for improving the organizational visibility.

• Learning Plan:

The following are the key objectives of the internship program:

a)      Parliamentary Research

• Acquire knowledge of the structures, functions, and intricacies of parliamentary systems.
• Hone the skills required to conduct research on parliamentary proceedings.
• Gain hands-on experience in analyzing and interpreting legislative data.

b)      Research on Political and Electoral Violence

• Develop an understanding of the multifaceted causes and dynamics of political and electoral violence.
• Acquire the ability to critically assess and analyze the root causes behind instances of violence in political contexts.

c)       Communication Research

• Acquire proficiency in crafting reports that not only convey information effectively but are tailored for optimal online communication.
• Develop an awareness of the nuances of online communication strategies.
• Gain practical skills in integrating Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques into writing.

d)      Research for Mis/Disinformation and Hate Speech

• Develop skills in the identification and analysis of false or mis- and dis-information in online posts and media content.
• Contribute to media monitoring through a comprehensive understanding of mis- and dis-information dynamics.

• Required Qualification and Competencies:

• Preferably a fresh Master’s/Bachelor’s degree.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
