Brien Holden Foundation (the Foundation) is an Australian NGO aiming to provide eye care services, education, and training initiatives and conduct research to eliminate uncorrected vision impairment and avoidable blindness. The Foundation is interested in recruiting a Communication Manager, full-time, initially for six monthswith the possibility of an extension.

The Communication Manager will develop, implement, and facilitate the communication global strategy to promote the Foundation to target funders, media, community, governments, and stakeholders. The position holder needs to ensure consistent positive communication of the Foundation's brand, reputation, and activities to internal and external audiences under the supervision of the Head of Programs and Compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation and Management

  • Write strategic content for public health advocacy and awareness.
  • Design or collaborate for presentable content arrangement.
  • Manage cataloging systems and content storage securely.
  • Research and write global health promotion materials.
  • Develop culturally oriented health promotion materials.
  • Build and maintain media relationships.

Governance, Policy Writing, and Compliance

  • Review and update policies, ensuring internal and external compliance.
  • Align Foundation policies with DFAT and ACFID standards.

Social Media Profiling and Ensuring Rebranding

  • Develop/update social media pages.
  • Collect and develop stories for social media.
  • Ensure all documents comply with Foundation branding.

Producing Quarterly Newsletter

Collect data and produce quarterly newsletters.

Update BHF Official Website

  • Work with the IT team to maintain and update the official website.
  • Collect and update content from country teams.

Others

  • Ensure program staff adhere to the BHF and ACFID Code of Conduct.
  • Any other task assigned by the line manager.

Selection Criteria - Pre-Employment Conditions

Education: Major in communications, journalism, English linguistics, marketing, or related subjects

Related Experience:

  • At least five years of relevant experience working with an international or national organisation.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective communications campaigns.

Knowledge & Attributes:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to articulate complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, fostering a cooperative and creative work environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, ensuring efficient and effective management of communications projects.
  • Proactive behavior, demonstrating initiative and the ability to anticipate and address challenges.

Skills:

Communication, publicity, content development, graphic design, publication, and web management experience.

Additional Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with contemporary software relevant to the duties associated with the position.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in website management.
  • Proven success in media relations and cultivating positive relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in social media management and branding strategies.
