Job Description

As the Audit Manager at Z.M.K. & Co., the primary objective of this position is to provide effective oversight of assurance engagements. This involves comprehensive oversight to guarantee that all activities align with applicable auditing and financial reporting standards. Furthermore, a key focus is on upholding the quality control standards adopted by ZMK throughout the audit processes. The goal is to maintain the highest accuracy, compliance, and excellence in delivering audit services to our clients.

JDs include the following:

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of audit engagements, ensuring timely completion and delivery of high-quality audit services.
  • Define & execute audit strategies in consultation with the senior partner and compliance with the firm’s policies and as per ISAs.
  • Develop comprehensive audit plans & conduct detailed risk assessments for each audit engagement, identifying key audit risks and developing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee the execution of audit procedures, ensuring compliance with ISAs and other regulatory requirements.
  • Design robust internal control testing procedures to evaluate the effectiveness of financial reporting controls.
  • Drive continuous improvement in audit methodologies and processes to bring efficiency & cost-effectiveness & implement best practices in audit documentation and reporting.
  • Effectively communicate audit findings, risks, and recommendations to clients, adapting communication style to various stakeholders.
  • Prepare Audit Reports as per the ISAs & the Companies Act.
  • Serve as clients’ primary point of contact, maintaining a deep understanding of their business operations, industry trends, and regulatory landscape & provide recommendations to clients for strengthening their internal control environment.
  • Engage actively in the Firm’s Quality Control Review Program mandated by ICAP, leading in refining the firm's audit processes and improving audit methodologies in accordance with the QCR Framework & ISQC1.
  • Conduct timely performance reviews and provide performance feedback/on-the-job training
  • Ensure all audit engagements adhere to ICAP standards, IFRS, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a mentor to the team and demonstrate adeptness in allocating tasks effectively among team members, ensuring a balanced workload and optimal utilization of skills.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to ensure the continuous professional development of the audit team.
  • Participate in the development of client proposals, leveraging industry knowledge and expertise.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services during client interactions and collaborate with partners to expand the firm's service offerings.

Education & Experience

The candidate must have the following:

  • Completed Chartered Accountancy Qualification from ICAP
  • Completed their articles in a mid-tier or large accounting firm and experience in handling a portfolio of clients in a medium to large professional services firm
  • Good working knowledge of IFRS, ISAs, IFRS for SMEs & latest developments in laws & regulations, including Companies Act 2017, Income Tax Ordinance 2001, ICAP guidelines for NGOs, ICAP & SECP circulars & notifications, is greatly advantageous
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of Corporate Governance Requirements applicable to Listed and Public Sector entities.
  • A good understanding of pertinent business and risk management issues and familiarity with the regulatory and reporting environment.
  • Must be proficient in both spoken/written English
  • Excellent communication skills, strong analytical skills and excellent business acumen.
