Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for the Global Senior Programmes Coordinator position,to be based at our Islamabad office Pakistan.
Main Job Purpose:
To provide oversight of and support to allocated country offices in all operational and financial matters as well as lead on the portfolio management of Human Appeal’s programmatic activities with field offices and local partners across the region. Lead on the designing, implementation and reporting of effective programmes, according to country and regional strategies. To contribute to strategy development and provide support in aligning and shaping organisational and strategic decisions and goals.
Accountabilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- To ensure an up-to-date overview of operational matters across field offices (FO) and effectively manage all country programmes in a highly organised and systematic manner.
- Work closely with Country Directors to provide management and oversight of the FO and to provide guidance and direction for staff and operations in order to develop FO, strengthen, and maximise impact of programmes.
- To develop the capacity of the Programmes department, contribute to strategy development at a global, regional and country level, and provide support in aligning and shaping organisational and strategic decisions and goals.
- Bring understanding and knowledge of current development trends, SDGs and learning from other programmes in order to provide technical support in programme development, and develop own expertise through continuous personal development.
- To conduct a regular and close monitoring for FO projects, through field visits where necessary, to ensure the effectiveness of the delivery and implementation and ensuring alignment with the programme strategy and organisation’s strategic plan.
- To be responsible for partner selection to in the field where necessary, by providing profile for each partner, brand value and impact to ensure local partners are selected professionally considering Human Appeal values.
- To oversee partners' performance and delivery of capacity building as-required through calling for regular meetings and progress report which assess project performance against objectives to ensure the partners are capable to implement the project.
- To ensure reports are submitted on time.
- To manage interns as required to support the overall programmes department
- To take responsibility for project management in the allocated countries by working closely and supporting staff in the field/partner offices to ensure appropriate resource allocation (both financial and human) and successful delivery of all projects including large and/or complex ones.
- To ensure the successful delivery of projects through effective monitoring of projects, appropriate management of field staff, and clear evaluation to measure effectiveness of interventions for evidence-based learning and to design new projects.
- To travel to the field to undertake scoping or evaluation missions, meet with team for capacity building, and network with stakeholders including UN agencies and government officials where necessary.
- To ensure cross-departmental working for information sharing and to increase organisational learning.
- Monitor trends and developments in relevant policy areas, update internal colleagues of these developments and where relevant influence the direction of these developments in line with Human Appeal priorities
- To be available for HA’s response to humanitarian crises or natural disasters and provide the necessary support to HA departments and FOs/LPs.
- Availability to provide support to other Programmes staff when required.
- Travel overseas as required (approx. 4-6 weeks per year) to support and advance existing projects or for the development of new projects or partnerships
- NB: Employee duties are not limited only to the above-mentioned Accountabilities; he/she may perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
- Indoors (office-based): 70%
- Outdoors (working at an alternative location, e.g. events, training, field trips): 30%
- Working days: 5 per week
- Days off: 2 per week
Qualification & Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in social science/international development or any related field
- Relevant Master’s degree preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of experience working in Programme Coordination at an INGO with ideally at least 1 years’ experience at Senior Coordinator or Manager level
- Experience working with, and delivering on bids from high-profile institutional funding bodies including UN, DfiD, GIZ, USAid
- Demonstrable experience of delivering long-term projects
- Demonstrable experience developing Field Office strategy
- Demonstrable experience managing Field Office response during a disaster
- Experience of managing at least 5 large-scale projects at any one time
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Language:
- Fluent English
- At least 1 additional fluent language pertaining to HA Field Office countries (i.e. Arabic, Bengali, French, Pashto, Urdu, Swahili)
