POSITION SUMMARY:

We are searching for a reliable, trustworthy, and innovative Montessori teacher to join our Early Learning Centre located at the Women Prison Hyderabad. The Montessori teacher’s responsibilities include creating lesson plans and curricula focused on developing social, physical, intellectual, and emotional skills, assessing children’s individual needs, and communicating. You should be able to create a nurturing, stimulating classroom where every child feels included.

Montessori teacher in a prison requires a high level of compassion, adaptability, and a commitment to providing quality education and support to children facing difficult circumstances.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Observing, guiding, supervising, and assessing children while they learn in the classroom environment.
  • Developing lesson plans, independent learning exercises, curricula, and methods that cater to the needs of the individual child.
  • Maintain accurate records of each child's progress, behaviour, and achievements, and provide regular reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Uphold professional boundaries and ethical conduct, recognizing the unique challenges and sensitivities of working in a prison setting.
  • Help children develop conflict resolution skills and mediate conflicts that may arise in the classroom
  • Ensure that the learning environment is well-equipped with Montessori materials that are accessible, organized, and appropriate for the age group.
  • Develop interest and skill in each student through child-directed learning
  • Creating and maintaining a safe, clean, stimulating classroom where all children feel safe and valued.
  • Establishing rapport and building relationships with students based on trust.
  • Setting an excellent example for students and instilling good values in them like honesty, accountability, understanding, tolerance, respect, love, and kindness.
  • Monitoring and assessing student progress.
  • Ensuring classroom supplies and equipment are available and in working condition.
  • Ensuring the sensory garden is maintained properly.
  • Updating students records and handling various other administrative tasks.
  • Adhering to the education policies and guidelines at all times.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood teaching, education, or a related discipline is recommended.
  • Additional courses or training in education would be advantageous.
  • Expertise on Montessori methods of education.
  • Experience in Montessori environment.
  • Have the physical capacity to work with pre-school/Kindergarten aged children.
  •  The ability to Develop and adapt individualized learning plans for each child based on their specific needs, interests, and abilities
  • Patience and excellent observational, communication, and diagnostic skills.
  • The ability to multitask, keep calm under pressure, and treat everyone with love and respect.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • A lifelong learner who can be a good role model for children.
