CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Communications and Advocacy Officer will primarily provide support to a new Health, Nutrition, and Child Protection project being implemented by Save the Children Pakistan in the Baluchistan Province. As part of this project, the Communications and Advocacy Officer will lead on developing high quality content, such as case studies, photos and videos, to demonstrate how the project has impacted the lives of children and their families and for sharing with the project donor and on Save the Children’s social media channels. The Communications and Advocacy Officer will also support the project team with the development and design of key communication materials for the project, including IEC and training materials.  The Communications and Advocacy Officer will assist the project team with meeting donor reporting requirements, developing internal updates on the project, and reviewing branding materials from partner staff and CO office staff. The Communications and Advocacy Officer may also be asked to support the ACCM team with other communications and advocacy-related work.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Senior Manager – Communications and Media, ACCM team

Role Dimensions: The role holder is expected to work closely with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaborative partnerships, and always ensuring the best interests of the children we work with. 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :

  • Develop high quality content and communications materials such as case studies, photos, videos, IEC and training materials.
  • Conduct regular field missions to collect key content and develop communications materials for the project.
  • Support with donor reporting and internal updates, including contributions to quarterly reporting on the project to CO management and ARO (if needed).
  • Ensure staff and partner compliance with SC’s communications policies and procedures and branding guidance.
  • Ensure that donor branding and visibility guidelines are shared and complied with by the project team as well as by the implementing partner.
  • Support the Project Coordinator with the review of communication materials and content shared by Afghanistan Country Office.
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Bachelors Degree in Communications, Journalism, Social Sciences or a relevant area of study.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 3-5 years experience working as a communications professional for a non-profit, for-profit, or government agency.
  • Experience in collecting high impact content and case studies that inspire and engage a wide range of audiences.
  • Experience in developing IEC and other key communication materials.
  • Experience in developing content for social media and using social media channels.
  • Experience in donor and internal reporting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Urdu.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to field locations to collect communications content. 
  • Working knowledge of Adobe photoshop/Illustrator/Indesign and basic video editing skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel , MS Word, Outlook, creative applications.
