Overview:

Jhpiego, a global leader in improving health care for women and families, seeks a Senior Program Manager, based in Islamabad, to lead BMGF funded program on Introduction of HPV Vaccine for cervical cancer The Senior Program Manager (SPM) is responsible for overall program management and guidance to team members.  Under the supervision of Country Director, SPM will be responsible for achieving planned results through effective coordination with relevant departments/stakeholders and teams and perform following activities:

Responsibilities:

Coordination and support to technical team:

  • Work with technical team to support and coordinate in the development of project work plan and technical material for advocacy and trainings.
  • Provide support to technical teams in the design, analysis, and synthesis of interventions to ensure they are fit for purpose and relevant to specific contexts in Pakistan.
  • Facilitate contributions from Jhpiego global technical advisors to technical products

High quality program management:

  • Develop program implementation plans, aligned with program proposal, in close collaboration with SBCC and finance leads
  • Harness human, material and financial resources appropriate for the program
  • Work with finance and program staff to develop and track program budgets and to implement activities within approved budgets
  • Ensure continuous monitoring of program activities, as well as timely and accurate evaluation and reporting of progress toward the achievement of program goals and objectives
  • Present progress, achievements and lessons learned to key stakeholders including DoH, PWD and other relevant partners.
  • Develop program risk mitigation plans along with teams for smooth implementation of program, identifying delays and informing supervisor
  • Troubleshoot to prevent and resolve potential problems and review outputs for quality control
  • Monitor and supervise short- and long-term consultants contributing to program efforts
  • Contribute in annual work planning process
  • Generate and ensure timely submission of program reports to donor and HQ through collaborative working with communication specialist and other team members.
  • Provide timely program updates to Country Director, relevant departments and HQ

Representational work:

  • Participate in meetings with concerned departments and partners for negotiating and briefing stakeholders, including technical working group and government officials
  • Formulate productive working relationships with counterparts from other stakeholders in order to disseminate, discuss, and promote consistent evidence-based approaches on a national level
  • Contribute to writing technical briefs/reports relevant to program

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in public health or relevant field with 7-10 years’ experience in program development and implementation of immunization programs, preferably in Pakistan
  • Proven leadership skills and expertise in the management of health programs and program staff
  • Knowledge of sound project management, performance and quality improvement approaches
  • Ability to develop strategic and programmatic plans in cooperation with concerned departments/other stakeholders/donors
  • Comprehensive understanding of evidence-based interventions
  • Ability to develop working relationships with counterparts of varying levels of seniority and backgrounds to implement program activities
  • Strong decision-making skills, team player accustomed to building team capacity, delegating work to teams
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel within country
