Overview:
Jhpiego, an international non-profit health organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins University, USA, is committed to enhancing the health of women and families in developing countries. We are currently seeking a dynamic Human Resources Officer to play a pivotal role in coordinating and implementing various HR programs and processes within our organization. Reporting to the Senior HR Manager, this role involves close collaboration with diverse departments to address employee-related concerns and ensure the seamless operation of HR functions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Senior HR Manager in the recruitment process of project staff including review of job descriptions, advertisements, screening of applications, interview and selection process, reference checks and contracting.
- Assist to review and update HR policies as per local laws and best practices
- Manage medical insurance, provide day-to-day administration of staff benefits and answer queries from staff regarding benefits
- Coordinate on-boarding (orientation) of new staff with other departments to support the learning process of new employees · Maintain up to date employee records in both electronic and hard copy files and ensure the files are complete and all required documentation is maintained in a confidential and secure manner
- Provide backstopping support to staff on JEMS HR system including; updating staff records, timely approval of staff leaves and timely submission of monthly timesheet
- Ensure effective administration of the performance management processes including appraisals after probation period, performance improvement plan (PIP) mid-year and end of year appraisals
- Address employee queries regarding company policies and benefits.
- Stay updated with employment laws and regulations and ensure HR practices comply with legal requirements.
- Coordinate the staff wellness initiatives and staff events, staff recognition award, staff retreats, team building and meetings, wellness activities and HR initiatives
- Responsible for drafting, processing and records of all consultants and staff contracts
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources development. Master’s degree will be preferred
- 4-5 years of relevant experience with a strong understanding of recruitment and HR operations
- Proficient in computer applications, with a command of Microsoft Office.
- Self-management skills, including motivation, dealing with pressure, and adaptability.
- Proactive with a positive attitude towards work.
- Effective communication skills instilling trust and confidence.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple assignments under deadlines.
- High integrity and a strong sense of confidentiality.
- Fluent in writing and speaking English
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Be of high integrity and have a sense of confidentiality
