U.S. Mission Pakistan is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the Equipment Operator (Truck Driver) position in U.S. Embassy, Islamabad.

Basic Function of the Position – Basic Function of the Position - Under the general guidance of the Equipment Operator/Driver Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy transport vehicles, light transport vehicles, heavy maintenance equipment and fully armored vehicles in support of Facility Management operations. The job holder will deliver generator fuel and potable water to off-compound residences. Will operate heavy maintenance equipment to maintain New Embassy Compound infrastructure and support the work of others carrying out facility maintenance, repair, and projects. The Position holder will be delivering and responsible for safe loading, handling, transporting and storage of both expendable and non-expendable items. Operates fully armored vehicles. Performs vehicles and equipment safety and operations inspections. Tracks and records operating hours, mileage, fuel consumption and other data. Performs routine or minor vehicle maintenance and repair and coordinates major vehicle maintenance and repair with the supervisor. Maintains vehicle operating logs and writes accidents reports when required.

Qualification Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum two (2) years of professional equipment operator experience including maintenance of vehicles such as street sweepers, articulating boom lifts, vertical scissor lifts, forklifts, tractors, and other heavy equipment is required.

EDUCATION: Completion of middle school certificate (8 years of education) is required.

Job Knowledge: The incumbent should have good working knowledge of maintenance vehicle and equipment operation. Should have knowledge of loading and unloading potable water and fuel from tanker trucks and knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations. Knowledge of in-country travel routes and areas is required.

LANGUAGE: Level II (Limited Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing in English and Level III (Good Working Knowledge) in Urdu are required. English language skills may be tested.

Skills And Abilities: The incumbent should have experience to operate heavy and light transit vehicles including passenger vans, and pickup trucks. Should have ability to operate maintenance vehicles and equipment such as street sweepers, articulating boom lifts, vertical scissor lifts, forklifts, tractors, and other heavy equipment. Should have ability to operate a fully armored vehicle. Should have ability to work as part of a team, work under pressure and a tight schedule. Should have good communication skills and be able to perform basic vehicle inspection. Possess intermediate level automotive maintenance skills. Should have basic computer skills to complete data entry, maintain reports and for communication purposes. The position holder should have the ability to read maps and plan driving routes. Valid Pakistani driver's license HTV (Heavy Transport Vehicle) is required to be able to operate light and heavy-duty vehicles including fully armored vehicles. Applicants must show proof that they have a minimum of five years of licensed driving experience. Skills and abilities may be tested.
