Nutrition International’s Operations unit is a dedicated team of program implementation experts who are responsible for contributing to the overall management of NI’s field operations in Asia and Africa.
Increasing Gains in Nutrition through Integration, Education, Evaluation and Empowerment (IGNIT3) is a 5-year project that aims to improve nutrition for the poorest and most marginalized, especially women, adolescent girls, and children, in Malawi, Ghana, and Pakistan. Within all three countries, women, adolescent girls, and children are disproportionally impacted by malnutrition due to a range of biological and socio-cultural factors including poverty, gender inequality, and community norms.
About you
You are a Postgraduate in gender/women’s studies with a focus on health / nutrition / WASH / public health or international development. You will come with experience of using gender markers in the development of new programs and various gender analysis frameworks.
An experience of around 6-8 years working with NGOs, UN agencies, and/or other service providers in implementing gender-sensitive and/or responsive programming with public health, WASH, and/or nutrition related programs within the Africa or Asia region. Specific experience of working in and/or knowledge of maternal nutrition, child survival, adolescent nutrition and health or WASH programming will be an advantage.
Fluency in English is essential. And Knowledge of at least one other local language (spoken in Pakistan or Malawi) is an advantage.
About the role
The purpose of this new post is to act as a principal resource on gender equality for the IGNIT3 project across the Consortium and in all three countries, providing technical leadership and oversight within the overall project to ensure gender considerations are applied across project activities. This will include leading and coordinating gender analyses and action planning, training and capacity building for project staff and local partners, identifying and assisting in monitoring gender equality outcomes and indicators, as well as provide support to the project management team and staff to achieving the programs goals.
In this role you will be responsible to:
- Support the IGNIT3 country teams to design appropriate interventions and approaches to address challenges through the development of the Project Gender Equality Strategy
- Lead on implementation of Project Gender Equality Strategy and adapt as needed based on findings from Gender and Human Rights Analysis (GHRA)
- Quality assurance of project planning and reporting documentation as required. A specific focus will be on providing technical guidance in gender analysis throughout the project cycle
- Provide technical guidance partners and staff on gender-responsive training curricula, social and behaviour change strategies, formative research and other project deliverables
- Ensure gender dimension is taken into account in the project MEL plan and system
- Support Project staff and partners to monitor the progress on gender equality and women’s empowerment across all the project interventions/countries/partners
- Stay abreast of and contribute to the latest knowledge/best practice of emerging issues related to gender within health, nutrition and WASH
