Position Summary:

The Field Engineer position is to work closely with the Project Coordinator and team members for the efficient and effective implementation of School Construction under Education Program. S/he will lead all community infrastructure/assets related construction and/or rehabilitation work including feasibility study, BoQs, technical oversight, training and payments.

Job Description:

  • Work with local communities to understand their unique needs and incorporate them into school designs.
  • Collaborate with architects and in-house teams to create designs that are both functional and culturally sensitive
  • Conduct regular site visits, ensuring that the construction aligns with the community's needs and the organization's standards
  • Oversee construction teams, ensuring timely and budget-conscious work, with an emphasis on local labor and materials when possible
  • Ensure materials and methods are in line with sustainability standards and local availability
  • Monitor construction quality, ensuring longevity and safety of the structures
  • Prepare detailed budget forecasts with regular updates to stakeholders
  • Ensure maximum cost-efficiency, prioritizing the allocation of funds to create the greatest impact
  • Engage with local leaders and community members to ensure smooth project progression and long-term sustainability
  • Participate and lead training material for community-based construction project, monitoring and maintenance
  • Keep detailed records of all stages of the project to ensure transparency with donors and stakeholders
  • Regularly update the Project Manager and prepare reports for donor agencies
  • Prioritize the safety of all workers, ensuring adherence to best practices
  • Uphold the organization's ethical standards, ensuring fairness, and respect for all community members

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in field-related activities, specially, in the field of construction in the rural areas.
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge in conducting public works programs with rural communities.
  • Experience in civil engineering e.g rural community infrastructure projects
  • Respectful and able to work with communities.
  • Ability to plan and deliver results in the field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the community, supervisors and colleagues.
  • Trustworthy and able to manage resources effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Sensitive to PSEA
  • High level of team spirit.
