Senior Technical Advisor for Inclusive Education
Job Description
Inclusive Development Partners (IDP) is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor for Inclusive Education for the planned USAID-funded Education Resilience Activity (ERA) in Pakistan. This activity seeks to strengthen Pakistan’s education system and foster an inclusive learning environment to provide sustained inclusive basic education to all children, especially marginalized children. The activity aims to increase the participation of all children, including girls and children with disabilities, in general education schools, particularly amidst shocks brought on by climate and conflict-related incidents.
IDP is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor for Inclusive Education for a proposed full-time job of up to 5 years to provide technical direction and input for activity implementation. The position will be based in Islamabad, Pakistan, with regular travel within Pakistan. The Advisor will lead a collaborative effort to design, pilot, and evaluate an inclusive learning model that improves student learning outcomes by building upon the principles of Universal Design for Learning. The Advisor will report to the IDP Program Director, with day-to-day oversight and guidance from the Chief of Party of the Education Resilience Activity in Pakistan. Preference will be given to nationals or those living in Pakistan with commensurate experience.
Specific Responsibilities
- Maintain a strong working relationship and collaborate closely with government focal points for disability, gender inclusion, and other marginalized children, including the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.
- Provide technical coordination, leadership and expertise related to inclusive education across all project objectives, activities, materials, and trainings.
- Oversee a team of staff who support in implementing inclusive education programming through ERA.
- Lead the collaborative effort with local and international technical experts to design, pilot and evaluate an inclusive learning model that improves student learning outcomes using Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
- Work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) team to support the implementation of the Activity Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Plan.
- Collaborate with local non-governmental organizations, including local organizations of people with disabilities (OPDs) and other relevant organizations pertaining to the inclusion of marginalized children.
- Communicate on a regular basis with IDP staff overseas, project partners, and others in project management and delivery.
- Lead the development of a variety of technical deliverables, including but not limited to training materials, research briefs, guidance documents, and communication materials regarding program activities and progress.
- Travel within Pakistan for field work related to project delivery.
- Demonstrated understanding of the UDL framework and how it relates to teachers and administrators as well as curricula and pedagogical practices.
- A master’s degree in Education Development, Special Education, or relevant discipline from an accredited, recognized university.
- At least seven years of professional experience in successfully advising on inclusive education and teacher training.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and mobilize diverse partners, developing stakeholder networks, and successfully communicating and coordinating among key stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of the education landscape of Pakistan
- Technical understanding and experience with UDL is preferred.
Qualifications
