U.S. Mission Pakistan is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the Chauffeur (Security) position in U.S. Embassy Islamabad.
Basic Function of the Position: The incumbent safely operates Motorpool vehicles including fully armored vehicles (FAVs) and unarmored vehicles to transport State Departmentpersonnel and other employees of participating agencies. Drives heavy duty trucks, forklifts, and vans to move official property from one place to the other. Works in different shiftsand overtime as necessary. Maintains daily trip logs and ensures that the vehicle is in clean and serviceable condition and performs minor preventive maintenance. Performs anyother official tasks as assigned by the supervisors.
Qualification Requirements:
Education: Completion of Middle School (8 years of education) is required.
Experience: Minimum three (3) years of professional driving experience with an automotive fleet company is required.
Job Knowledge: The incumbent must be thoroughly familiar with Rawalpindi/Islamabad streets, road traffic regulations, local traffic routes,local traffic patterns, and possess general familiarity with routes throughout Pakistan. The position holder must be aware of general politicalclimate in the country related to protests, demonstrations, and riots.
Skills And Abilities: The incumbent must be able to diagnose and handle preventive maintenance and first-echelon automotive repairs.S/he must have an ability to detect defects and report them immediately to concerned authorities. Must quickly and calmly evaluate risks andalternative actions always assuring the maximum safety of the passengers. Must be able to deal with high level officials in a relaxed andcompetent manner. The incumbent must possess a valid Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) Pakistani driver’s license to be able to heavy dutyvehicles including fully armored vehicles, trucks and water tankers. The applicants must show proof that they have a driver's license for aminimum of five years. Skills and abilities may be tested.
