Job Position: Advocacy & Communication Officer
Duty Station: Islamabad
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES
Education
- A university degree in international relations, political science, international development, public policy, public administration, economics, communication or any other related fields.
Work Experience
- At least two (2) years’ experience in one of the following fields is required: advocacy, campaigning, communication or mass media & social media engagement.
- Experience in working with high-risk communities, vulnerable group and private sector, experience in media partnership and event management will be considered as an asset.
Skills
- Excellent English writing skills
- Sound understanding of public health initiative in context of Pakistan.
- Ability to work in very organized manner with high level skill in planning, interpersonal communication, presentation and coordination.
- Experience in visibility and brand management, ability to identify branding risk and suggest appropriate solutions.
Language Proficiency
- Fluency in English and Urdu is required. Knowledge of other local language is an asset.
Key Accountabilities, Duties & Tasks
- Support in the implementation of communication strategies and support to the partners in implementation of advocacy and communication activities of the projects.
- Facilitate the ability of Polio/ NEOC counterparts to work effectively with different stakeholder for the implementation of advocacy, digital and public activities, also engaging partners in events and organizing capacity building and information sharing.
- Proactively identify, meet, establish and cultivate relationships with key digital and media and other relevant external contacts, and compile and maintain contacts and general databases.
- Create campaigns spikes linking local campaign activities with global campaign spikes and vice versa also coordinate with different Polio affiliates for creating and implementing spike plans.
- Ensure/contribute to the production of accurate and timely minutes/reports of NEOC meetings; and ensure polio data, policy and media documents are archived appropriately.
- Deliver effective, qualitative and timely communication of Polio in Pakistan’s activities to the relevant stakeholders.
- Promote Pakistan Polio programme and its works through different channels of media.
- Support documentation of programme achievements and assist NEOC in Pakistan in fundraising efforts.
- Develop project case studies, communication material, design campaigns and take lead role in event management and coordination.
- Conduct field visits to project areas to document stories and ensure communication guidelines are followed by partners during the implementation of the project activities.
- Ensure consistent branding in all Polio related material in Pakistan communications.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of health / polio beat reporters, journalists, and media outlets in Pakistan
- Monitor media coverage related to polio and provide regular updates and analysis
- Schedule, coordinate, and prepare the National Coordinator for media interview, ensuring the key messages are effectively communicated
- Draft, edit and disseminate press releases, media advisories, and news stories to announce programme updates, achievements, and events
- Deliver high visibility and quality campaigns products for NEOC and partners
- Maintain and support NEOCs internal communications and knowledge management process
- Manage NEOCs external and digital communications at country level to support campaigns
- Build Advocacy and communication capacity of others; support media relations and outreach
