Objective of Consultancy:

 The healthcare system relies heavily on effective strategies to prevent acute malnutrition in children under 5-years of age, pregnant and lactating women to improve health outcomes. The objective of this consultancy is to help the provincial governments in developing skills to manage and prevent acute malnutrition and the ultimate outcome will be prevention of chronic malnutrition (Stunting).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The Nutrition consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Assess the existing nutrition practices, policies, and systems in the healthcare system.
  • Develop and update existing nutrition related guidelines.
  • Develop and update referral guidelines.
  • Consultations with the relevant provincial stakeholders on finalization of the nutrition related tools.
  • Conduct training of the relevant nominated government staff on updated nutrition guidelines.
  • Forecasting and quantification of nutrition related commodities.

Required Skills & Qualification:

The individual must be able to perform prescribed essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the required knowledge, skills, and/or abilities needed to perform the principal duties:

  • Master's/Bachelor's degree in nutrition, food sciences or public health/M.B.B.S with specialization diploma/degree in relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating nutrition related strategies and interventions in the healthcare system.
  • Experience in designing and delivering training and capacity building of healthcare providers and community health workers on nutrition guidelines.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in working with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community-based organizations.

  • Develop and update existing nutrition related guidelines.
  • Develop and update existing referral guidelines.
  • Forecasting and quantification of nutrition related commodities.
