Malteser International is the international humanitarian relief agency of the Sovereign Order of Malta. For over 60 years we provide relief and recovery for people during and following conflicts and disasters around the world. In over 30 countries in Africa, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East, we support people in need – regardless of their religion, origin or political convictions.

Malteser International (MI) has been active in Pakistan since the Kashmir earthquake of 2005 and has been providing humanitarian aid after disasters and in crisis. Our aid focuses on healthcare, livelihood security and disaster risk reduction. Since 2014, our activities have targeted communities in the Swat and Peshawar regions (KPK province) and on various districts of Sindh province. MI has a country office in Islamabad. Currently, MI implementing a project “Life-saving and integrated health care and nutrition project for crisis-affected people in Pakistan” and a flood relief project in Sindh. Malteser International is planning to launch another primary health care project in Afghan Refugees villages and camps in KP province. Malteser International is looking for Finance Assistant based at Project office.  

Your responsabilités :

  • Handling and organizing bank transfers, cheques, payments and bank requests in close co-operation with Project Manager and Finance Coordinator.
  • Preparation of book-keeping documents, vouchers and contractual documents.
  • Bookkeeping in Malteser International and/or donor format.
  • Process and verify invoices in compliance with MI Finance Handbook.
  • Submission of Monthly expenditures cash planning to Finance Coordinator (based in Islamabad) through Project Manager.
  • Strong command on tax laws implemented in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, and Sound knowledge of compliance as per the FBR rules and regulations.
  • Maintain/support regular cash flow to project locations within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, through weekly advances and settlements.
  • Prepare and file Cash Count Protocols on monthly basis.
  • Keep the excel cashbooks regularly updated and prepare related vouchers/coding stamps, submitting both to Finance Coordinator for approval.
  • File vouchers according to MI procedures, providing hard and soft copy of them and following up on any needed revision or amendment, when instructed by the Project Manager/Finance Coordinator.
  • Supporting procurement of project and MI equipment together with the logistics officer on request of the Project Manager in accordance with Malteser International / Donor procurement guidelines.
  • Oral and written translations of relevant documents in local/English language.
  • Maintain close coordination with Project Manager in all financial matters.
  • Fulfil any other job-related tasks as assigned by supervisor (s). 


Your Profile :


  • Proven work experience as Finance Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.
  • Experienced using various financial software.
  • Good Microsoft Office Skills with ability to work on spread sheets.
  • Good analytical and numerical skills.
  • Sharp time management skills.
  • Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data.
  • BBA from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 4 years work experience in the field of Finance preferably with INGO/UN.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is highly desirable. Pashto language would be an asset. 
  • Familiar and adherence with local culture.

  • Duration of contract: 12 months (extendable 2024)
