 Job Description:

This role leads the Design, Strategy & Resource Development portfolio for developing new programs and operating models for the Human Development Foundation. This position plays a critical role in HDF’s ability to identify and develop new programs and operating models that can disrupt HDF’s traditional way of working in order to  bring more resources and become more relevant to the people it is serving to bring about positive changes in their lives.

The General Manager for Design, Strategy & Resource Development will lead the cross functional teams including resource development, programs and monitoring and evaluation to develop and execute design and strategies, build partnerships, create project/program models and plans, discover new opportunities and develop/mobilize resources to execute the same.

Major Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior management to develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan that aligns with the organization’s goals and objectives. This will include developing and executing strategies that support growth, innovation and sustainability.
  • Lead the Design, Strategy & Resource Development team, providing guidance, mentorship and support to team members.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify business opportunities and develop strategic plans to capitalize on those opportunities
  • Develop monitoring and evaluation framework that aligns with the organization’s strategic objectives and is robust enough to measure the quality and  effectiveness of strategic initiatives
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including partners, beneficiaries, donors, government entities to understand their needs and preferences and ensure that the organization is meeting their expectations
  • Manage the budget for the Design, Strategy & Resource Development team as well as provide budgetary input for programs  ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and efficiently
  • Provide thought leadership to the team on communication,  external engagement, resource mobilization and forging innovative partnership
  • Research potential resource development opportunities and develop acquisition strategies.
  • Develop and manage the resource development process, including proposal creation and review, resource allocation, and execution of resource development initiatives.
  • Manage and track the progress of resource development initiatives, ensuring that resources are allocated in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of resource development initiatives.
  • Develop and implement programs to increase resource development awareness, engagement, and involvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of resource development initiatives to ensure they are meeting objectives and deadlines.
  • Stay informed of current and emerging trends in resource development and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate resource development activities to stakeholders.
  • The Resource Development Manager is responsible for researching and developing strategies for acquiring resources, managing the resource development process, and overseeing the implementation of resource development initiatives.


  • A Master’s degree or higher in design, business, international development or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in design and strategy, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Strong leadership and management skills with ability to motivate and inspire the team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders
  • Strong strategic planning and analytical skills, with the ability to develop and execute strategies that support organizational goals
  • Strong budget management skills, with the ability to manage resources effectively and efficiently
  • Experience in project management, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of design thinking methodologies and their application in developing organizational strategies
  • Strong understanding of M&E systems and best practices
