Job Purpose

The MSCC Technical Focal Person(s) will be the secretariat focal point, providing technical and administrative support to the Technical Working Group (TWG) Govt. Chairs, and ensuring continuity and progress of the working groups, with oversight and technical direction coming from LAS, PF and UNFPA. He/she will work daily with the Home Department, the Secretariat for the MSCC, and the respective Technical Working Groups (TWGs) that LAS and Pathfinder’s are secretaries for to support greater cohesion, and coordination within the MSCC and the TWGs.

Key Performance Areas

Major Activities / Responsibilities

 

 

Primary responsibility:

 

Technical Support to Technical Working Groups MSCC

-          Coordinate with approximately 15-20 various representatives in the 4 TWGs of the MSCC to set up and convene a total of 28 meetings till December

-          Provide logistical and convening support for regular meetings/follow up meetings on action items

-          Track TWG action plans, and create repository of documents and decisions related to action items

-          The MSCC focal point will be tasked with drafting monthly progress reports, ensuring its validity with all key stakeholders and present to the Home Secretariat for further action

-          Provide research support to TWGs

-          Create knowledge sharing among members, ensuring that all members have received reports, summaries and are aware of next steps.

-          Recording meeting minutes, documenting key decisions and ensuring action on decisions, and circulation of all notifications

-          The focal points would also be responsible for convening informal meetings with LAS, Pathfinder and UNFPA, for strategic conversations and ideation, and updates on a regular basis

 

Minimum Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Law, Health or related
  • 2-3 years’ experience on in gender based violence
  • Demonstrated experience working with government officials
  • 2-3 years experience in research, documentation
  • Prefer: Master’s degree, or a combination of education and experience that yields the minimally required key competencies.
  • Proven ability to write and speak English language.

  • Data and Materials Maintenance: Ability to review, update and finalize materials.
  • Filing and Record Keeping: Ability to file documentation and maintain records according to policy and procedures.
  • Data Collection: Ability to develop and format instruments for data collection for project or program according to prescribed procedures.

Minimally Required Organizational Competencies:

  • Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Services: Foundational knowledge of family planning and reproductive health principles, practices and services of assigned project and program.
  • Passion for Sexual and Reproductive Health Services: Commitment to family planning, reproductive health services, gender, maternal, child health services, and eradication of harmful traditional practices.
  • Software Applications: Foundational skills using MS Office products, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Languages: Ability to speak and write using the local language and English language.
  • Customer Service: Proven customer service skills.
  • Organization, Planning and Multi-tasking: Advanced organizational and planning skills. Foundational project planning and project management skills. Proven ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision.
  • Self-Management and Teamwork: Ability to work independently or as a member of the team, ability to be detailed-oriented, and ability to manage stress effectively in a fast-paced environment.
