Background:
The Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives, Pakistan (CPDI-Pakistan) is an independent, non-partisan and a not-for-profit civil society organization working on issues of peace and development in Pakistan. It is registered UNDER SECTION 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984 (XLVII of 1984).
Job Summary:
The driver will provide safe, transport services for program and support staff in the described area of responsibility. The driver will adhere to all traffic and safety rules and follow the transport guidelines required by the Administration & Security Section:
- Drive vehicle for official travel or as requested by the Supervisor
- Ensure punctuality and Adhere to all safety and communication protocols as advised by the supervisor
- Responsible for the safe keeping of all vehicle equipment, tools, first aid kits, spares, etc.
- Keep the vehicle ready, clean, and on standby – ready for use always
- Ensure vehicle is kept secure at all times
- Ensure vehicle is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks: check oil, water, Battery, brakes, tyre, etc. Report all maintenance needs regularly to the supervisor
- Perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs
- Prepare and submit vehicle request form, including records of log book, and records of fuel slips at the end of each month
- Undertake field Assignments as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Matric standard qualification
- Valid driving license
Knowledge
- Understanding of transportation law (Local Highways, Motorways and Expressways)
- Good traffic judgment
- Good knowledge of car mechanics
- Knowledge of the locations in Islamabad and other provinces (Especially Punjab and Sindh Provinces).
Skills
- Excellent driving skills.
- Flexible, effective teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of English language
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience as a driver with a good driving record.
- Knowledge of routes, and duty stations, minimum 2 years’ experience with USAID project background experience is required.
- Defensive driving and related courses, and certifications, will be an advantage.
Attitudes
- Willing to work long and irregular hours, shift duty, and on public holidays as required.
- Willing to travel to outstation location
