Relevant Experience: Bachelor degree in Psychology with 1-2 Year working experience in NGO / INGO in relevant position and program (i.e. MHPSS program).

Position Objective: The MHPSS Associate will be responsible to design a full training material package, conduct training for master trainers, and identify referral pathways and monitoring mechanism. The MHPSS Associate will perform the individual and group psychoeducational sessions on gender and protection, mental health and well-being and early child development.

Job Description:

Mission 1: Build the capacity of government department, service providers and psychosocial counsellors through trainings and on job coaching clinical supervision

The MHPSS Associate is responsible for:

  • Design a MHPSS training package for Community mobilisers, IYCF Counsellors, and Community Health in coordination with ACF CO.
  • Based on identified needs, develop capacity building plan in collaboration with Health manager.
  • Adapt or prepare coaching and training materials and sessions for the field team based on the protocols validated by the ACF MHPSS&P team (field and HQ).
  • Conduct basic and refresher trainings on technical aspects and support conduction of other ad hoc training sessions, coaching and on-the–job support based on identified needs.
  • To provide support to trained staff to train other field staff and communities.
  • Identify the referral pathways on for referring to government health care facilities where needed.
  • Assess, identify, and arrange the group therapies or referral to higher care level if required.
  • Ensure continuous supervision and technical support to the field teams and activities.
  • Assess patient and provide treatment therapies.
  • Provide group session (CBT) and case to case counselling at health facilities and community level.
  • Provide patients with referrals to other therapists, clinics or facilities as needed.

Mission 2: Network and coordinate with the relevant sectors:

The MHPSS Associate is responsible to:

  • Establish good Relationship with the Tehsil and UC authorities, health facilities and community leaders.
  • Establish a network with the other actors in the working area (I/NGOs and DOH)
  • Respond and coordinate properly with Nutrition Officer representing ACF.
  • Establish a good understanding of the program within the community.
  • Establish good coordination with caregivers coming to the healthcare facility for services.

Mission 3: Additional Tasks:

The MHPSS Associate is responsible for:

  • This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive and the employee will perform other related tasks as required and responsible for reporting and communication of progress and achievement of the specific assigned task.
  • Inform ACF Health and Nutrition Officer and Project Manager any Technical problems encountered related MHPSS activities.

Mission 4: Ensure compliance with ACFs gender equality, child protection sensitivity and safeguarding policies

  • Read and ensure a full understanding of ACFs Gender, Child Protection and other safeguarding policies  
  • Implement all work related activities with a gender, inclusion and child protection lens
  • Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability

Specific skills needed to perform the function

  • Bachelor degree in Psychology with 1-2 Year working experience in NGO / INGO in relevant position and program (i.e. MHPSS program). 
  • Ability and willingness to autonomously travel to duty site/ health facility and villages when required.
  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions like long distance walking to work/distribution sites
  • Excellent spoken and written local language /Urdu and English language skills
  • Good interpersonnel and communication skills
  • Experience in closely working with DOH and Tehsil/District HQ Hospitals and at health facility level is advantageous.
  • Previous experience working in clinical psychology is an asset
  • Ability to prepare weekly and monthly program reports
  • Candidates will be preferred who belong to ACF-intervention areas/UCs district
