About the role:

The Project Officer will be responsible for the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the Project. His/her primary duty is to ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and meets the required quality standards.

About the Project:

PMS is initiating the "Flood 2022 Rehabilitation Khairpur" project to support vulnerable and marginalized families in the union council Kot Digi, Shadi Shaheed, and Kereela districts of Khairpur, Sindh. This initiative aims to enhance community resilience by providing disaster-resistant infrastructure and comprehensive training programs. Specifically, 25 disaster-resistant verandas will be constructed, and 5 Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) schemes will be developed to enhance the community's capacity to withstand and respond to disasters. The project will also include training and capacity-building activities. Furthermore, DRR training, awareness, and sensitization programs will be conducted to provide essential information on early warning systems and evacuation procedures, thereby increasing community preparedness. Through this holistic approach, PMS strives to create a sustainable model of disaster resilience that can be replicated and scaled to benefit other vulnerable communities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Project planning: Collaborating with stakeholders to define project goals, timelines, and budgets, and creating detailed project plans.
  • Project coordination: Overseeing the project team and ensuring that all members are working towards the project goals, monitoring project progress, and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Project reporting: Creating reports to communicate project status, progress, and risks to stakeholders, and providing recommendations for project improvements.
  • Resource management: Ensuring that project teams have the necessary resources to complete their tasks, such as equipment, funding, and personnel.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, such as project sponsors, partners, and customers, to ensure that their needs and expectations are met.
  • Risk management: Identifying potential risks and issues that may impact project timelines, budgets, or quality, and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Quality control: Ensuring that project deliverables meet the required quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Any other task assigned by the line manager/management.

Job Specification:

Education:

  • Master’s Degree in Project Management, Development Sciences, Social Sciences or relevant field.

Work Experience:

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in NGOs/INGOs in the same position.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Project Management Skills: Thorough understanding of management principles, methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Communication Skills:    The ability to communicate effectively with project stakeholders.
  • Leadership Skills: Able to lead and motivate team members to achieve project goals.
  • Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze project data and metrics is essential.
  • Problem-solving skills: Able to identify and resolve problems that arise during the project cycle.
  • Time Management Skills: The ability to manage time effectively is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of specific applications or project regulations and standards.
