Purpose of the Position:

Veterinary Officer will be responsible for the implementation of poultry-related project activities (Poultry Bird Distribution in Khairpur (Sindh) & Sohbatpur & Jafferabad (Baluchistan)) as per the project design and plan. The veterinary officer will also be responsible to provide technical support to engage the local officials of Poultry Production Unit, Livestock & Fisheries Department-Sindh & Baluchistan through developing “Letter of Agreement -LoA” for imparting the training on homestead poultry management in the target villages by also developing the curricula in local language.

S/he would also ensure the adoption of SoPs of poultry distribution by developing strong coordination with vendor and facilitate him to comply the quarantine period and scheduled regulatory vaccination. He further accomplish to coordinate with project managers about the scheduling of distribution in village keeping in mind the temperature/heat aspects and will make certain arrangements to ensure the birds are least exposed to heatwave/avoid heat stress..

Reporting Line: The incumbent under the overall administration guidance of field coordinator, and technical backstopping of Sr. Manager-FSL & direct supervision of Project Managers, will perform the following functions which are not exhaustive list of ToRs and flexibility to modify depending upon requirement/situation the field.

Relevant Experience and Education:

Master’s/university degree in Veterinary Sciences (DVM) from a recognized university with 2-3 years of relevant experience is mandatory. Minimum 2 - 3 years of work experience in the development sector, preferably with an International NGO focused on emergencies or climate change.), local candidate with relevant experience is highly desirable.

• Provide overall technical expertise and management of all Veterinary-related activities (Poultry Birds Distribution, training material development , facilitate conduction trainings, Quarantine vaccination,
• Engaging and building strong relationships with line department and other relevant stakeholders in the target areas,
•  Design action plan and training modules on sustainable management of poultry birds.
• Support in development of training report, and distribution reports timely,
• Support MEAL manager in organizing the pre & post  analysis of training activities
• Document field achievements and lessons learned to integrate into project activities and device strategy for sustainability of the project.
• Ensure visibility during the training activities and in reports
