U.S. Mission Pakistan is seeking applications from qualified individuals for General Maintenance Worker (Civil Works Shop) position in U.S. Embassy, Islamabad.
Basic Function of the Position: This position provides semi-skilled assistance to the technical level positions by performing general maintenance and upkeep work at the U.S. Embassy compound buildings, residences, and grounds. Responsibilities include the performance of non-skilled manual tasks such as demolition work, painting, minor plumbing work, general cleanup of common areas, minor masonry work to include filling gaps on walls, laying of bricks, repairing and/or installing locks and other minor preventative maintenance tasks. This position would assist other Facility Management trades positions such as the Electrical Maintenance Worker, HVAC Maintenance Worker, or the Carpentry Maintenance Worker.
Qualification Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the general repair and maintenance of buildings, residences, and grounds such as masonry, welding, painting, plumbing, repairing and/or installing entry lock systems and other minor preventative maintenance tasks is required.
EDUCATION: Completion of Secondary School (10 years education) certificate or completion of vocational training from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with specialization in the plumbing and general construction fields is required.
Job Knowledge: The incumbent should have the knowledge of Embassy Facility Management procedures, standards, and regulations. The knowledge of the use of Global Maintenance Management System (GMMS) is also required. The incumbent must have the orientation and training on the various systems and equipment installed in all post facilities.
LANGUAGE: Level II (Limited Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English and Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing of Urdu are required. English language skills may tested.
Skills And Abilities: The incumbent must be able to identify problems or dangers, report issues and provide solution. Should have communication and interpersonal skills to answer queries from end users. The incumbent should be able to work as part of a team, able to work under pressure with a tight schedule. The incumbent must have a flexible approach to work shifts and answer emergency calls at all hours. Skills and abilities may be tested.
