Position Title: Social Media Officer
Department: Media & Communication
Organization: Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS)
Location: National Headquarters, Islamabad
Reporting To: Deputy Director / Assistant Director
Position Overview
The Social Media Officer will work closely with the Media & Communication Department to support the organization’s digital presence across all social media platforms. The selected candidate will assist in creating, scheduling, and publishing engaging content aligned with PRCS’s humanitarian values and communication objectives. This role provides hands-on experience in managing social media channels of a leading humanitarian organization and offers exposure to real-time communication, design, and content strategy.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning, creating and posting daily content on PRCS’s official social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, etc.)
- Drafting captions, headlines, and hashtags for social media posts and campaigns.
- Coordinate with the Media & Communication team to ensure consistent branding and messaging across all channels
- Maintain a regular posting schedule using a content calendar, to stay top-of-mind with your audience and keep algorithms favorable.
- Monitor engagement and respond to comments and messages on social media accounts.
- Stay updated on social media trends, hashtags, and best practices relevant to humanitarian communication
- Developing visuals, short videos, and reels using Canva, CapCut, or other design tools, in coordination with Photographer/Videographer
- Develop and share monthly performance reports (reach, engagement, followers, etc.) of social media accounts.
- Help organize and document PRCS events and activities through photography and short video clips for social media coverage
- Executing social media campaigns for special days, humanitarian events, and PRCS initiatives
- Maintain a digital content library (photos, videos, and designs) for internal use.
- Sharing of important information/posts on leadership meetings, events and engagements etc with Web Focal Person to keep organization’s website gallery updated
Qualifications and Skills
- BS/ Masters (16 years education) in Mass Communication/Media Studies/Public Relations or Social Sciences
- Strong interest and exposure in social media management, digital communication, and humanitarian work
- Professional knowledge of social media analytics and trends
- Familiarity with design and video editing tools (Canva, CapCut, Adobe Express, etc.)
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English and Urdu
- Creative mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team environment and meet deadlines
