Job Summary

A reputable development organization is seeking a motivated District Project Officer (DPO) to lead and manage community mobilization activities at the district level. The role focuses on supervising field teams, engaging communities and stakeholders, and supporting inclusive urban development and climate resilience initiatives, with special attention to vulnerable groups.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise community mobilization activities through field teams.

• Plan and oversee daily field operations, including mentoring and capacity building of staff.

• Facilitate community sessions, dialogues, and awareness activities ensuring inclusive participation.

• Support formation and strengthening of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs/COs).

• Coordinate with local government departments, civil society organizations, and service providers.

• Use participatory tools to assess community needs and support beneficiary identification.

• Support implementation of social mobilization strategies and project plans.

• Maintain accurate records and submit timely progress and narrative reports.

• Ensure compliance with safeguarding principles and rights-based approaches.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Urban Planning, or a related field.

• Relevant experience in community mobilization, social development, or NGO projects.

• Experience working with urban and/or rural communities.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.

• Practical understanding of social mobilization approaches.

• Good planning, coordination, and report-writing skills.

• Computer literacy and ability to work in demanding field environments.

• Familiarity with local languages and community dynamics is an asset.
