AKHS, P is looking for a seasoned and dynamic Lady Health Visitor/ Midwife for its Karachi Region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling and health education to mothers, pregnant women, and families regarding topics like prenatal care, breastfeeding, nutrition, and hygiene.
  • Educate families on proper child-rearing practices, vaccinations, and the importance of healthy living.
  • Conduct routine health check-ups for pregnant women, newborns, and young children.
  • Monitor growth and development in children, assess immunization status, and refer them for vaccinations.
  • Identify early signs of illness, malnutrition, or developmental delays and refer individuals to appropriate healthcare facilities when necessary.
  • Carry out home visits to monitor the health and well-being of mothers and children, ensuring they have access to medical care, adequate nutrition, and a safe living environment.
  • Provide advice on birth control, hygiene practices, and disease prevention.
  • Offer emotional and psychological support to mothers, especially those with postpartum issues or mental health challenges.
  • Help manage family health problems by giving practical advice and connecting families with healthcare resources.
  • Actively engage with communities to raise awareness about maternal and child health issues.
  • Organize and conduct workshops, awareness campaigns, and health talks in the community
  • Maintain accurate records of patient visits, health conditions, and interventions.
  • Prepare reports on the health status of individuals and families, highlighting areas that need attention or improvement.
  • Responsible to maintain Nursing documentation and implement nursing SOPs in nursing care
  • Provide healthcare services during morning or evening shifts to cater to mothers and families who may be unable to access services during regular daytime hours.

Education, Experience & Competencies:

  • LHV/Family Planning Diploma/Midwife diploma having valid PNC License
  • 1 year experience will be required, previous experience in a healthcare or community setting, particularly working with mothers and children, is preferred
  • Always demonstrate polite as well as courteous behavior, and positive attitude to those in authority
  • Ability to give oral instructions / information to the patients
  • Must have problem solving skills
  • I/V Cannulation & Medication Administration
  • Understand Infection Control & Nursing Protocol
  • Knowledge of Lactation Management
