Assistant Director Disaster Response

Position Objectives

The overall objective of the position is to support the Operations Department in coordination, planning, implementation, close liaising with provincial and district branches and monitoring and reporting of field level activities and humanitarian responses.

Specific Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities

  • To support the DD DM in implementation of program.

  • Assist DD DM in response the emergency situation and make disaster management plan

  • To be the focal person from DMLC Operation’s Department in the field during any disaster (natural/manmade).

  • Preparation and updation of Report Formats including Rapid Assessment Repot, Detailed Assessment Repot, Distribution Coupons, Summary Sheet, Distribution Registry, Daily Activity Form, and Distribution detail report etc.

  • Collaborate with Operations teams on program development, quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation, and the sharing of learnings.

  • Oversee all field activities, including compliance of organizational policies, as well as donor and country regulations.

  • Monitor and make report in consultation of provincial teams the mitigation programs in vulnerable communities.

  • To assist DD DM in conduct of National/ Provincial level DM Trainings, workshops like National Disaster Response Team, Regional Disaster Response Team, Branch Disaster Response Team, Emergency Response Unit Training, Training Of Trainers on Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment, Community Based Disaster Preparedness, Simulation Exercises based on Contingency Planning, etc.

  • Manage the field Operations team, including capacity-building, and performance evaluations.

  • Collect ad produce regularly, timely and accurate reports on the progress of the program.

  • Monitoring and Evaluation of DM Relief Activates in branches through visits, correspondence and ffollow up, to ensure their timely execution

  • Work with field teams to improve and streamline operational systems, processes, and policies.

  • Support in development of new proposals for different donors for seeking funding. 

  • Ensure the preparation of timely and all kinds of high quality progress reports, program reports, and donor reports.

  • Any other duty assigned by the reporting manager and management.

Education

  • Masters’ degree in Social Sciences, Project Management and/or related field from HEC recognized University.

Experience 

  • 5 years’ experience working in project management, field operations, program planning, Monitoring Evaluation and reporting. 

 

Skills/Knowledge 

  • Demonstrated task management, with experience managing a complex workload.

  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, with conflict resolution experience in international team settings.

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of effective financial and budgetary control, including managing grants from Movement Partners.

  • Experience managing and developing a high performing team, with the ability to lead and motivate others.

  • Fluently spoken and written English and local language will be a plus.
