Position Summary:
The Manager – Finance & Compliance is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and full compliance with donor, legal, and regulatory requirements. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding the organization’s financial integrity, supporting grant compliance, and enabling informed decision-making across the organization.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with non-profit accounting standards.
- Ensure proper classification and reporting of restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Coordinate and prepare financial reports for the Board of Directors and executive leadership.
- Manage the annual audit process, including liaison with external auditors.
Compliance & Grant Management:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable local laws, and donor requirements (including government and foundation grants).
- Support the preparation and submission of donor-specific financial reports.
- Maintain compliance documentation and tracking systems for restricted funding and grants.
Internal Controls & Risk Management:
- Develop and maintain effective internal controls and financial procedures.
- Lead internal reviews to assess compliance with policies, donor rules, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with HR, programs, and legal departments to assess compliance risks and implement mitigation plans.
Budgeting & Financial Planning Support:
- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Provide financial guidance and training to program and development teams on budget management and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- CPA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
- Minimum 6–7 years of progressive experience in non-profit financial management, compliance, or audit.
- Strong understanding of non-profit accounting standards.
- Experience with grant compliance and reporting (e.g., USAID, UN, EU, or major private foundations).
Skills & Competencies:
- Deep knowledge of fund accounting, donor compliance, and regulatory reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into practical procedures.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage and Excel).
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working in international NGOs or multi-donor environments.
- Experience supporting program teams with budgeting and reporting.
